I'd take it to the bank that Walker will be the pick, but I'd be good with Fiorina.

Walker would be a great pick strategically, in my opinion. Picking Walker would definitely put Wisconsin very much in play. While I'd be fine with Fiorina, there's no state that she would help put in play.

Cruz already "owns" Wisconsin.

i think it causes too many problems. You have that whole 500k thing his superpac donated to hers and then of course the whole national enquirer thing.

If Fiorina were bringing something extremely special to the mix which would offset all these things being brought up again, just when the public was forgetting them, then maybe. It doesnt seem that way though. Plenty of other qualified candidates.

She has more baggage than Hillary?

of course not but the choice for vp is not hillary and fiorina. Its fiorina and someone else. I think fiorina brings up too many old issues that cruz would rather forget about.
For instance?
Then why is she even being considered?

I don't remember those issues.
I do remember something about job losses at Hewlett-Packard,
and Carly's Establishment connections.
I'm sure the Dems would bring those things up again.

Don't be silly, there's a reason Walker lost, and they're identical to Fiorina, he's squishy.
Oh sure, he signed great Legislation as Governor, but he did so kicking and screaming like a little girl.

While speaking with the media this morning, Cruz announced this morning that he will be making a "major announcement" at 4 PM Easten. Also while speaking with the media, Cruz spoke about what to look for in a running mate and that "he or she should be prepared to...fulfill role as president."

In my opinion, instead of saying "they should be prepared...", Cruz said "he or she should be prepared..." that gives good indication that all signs point to Carly as VP.

So you are thinking he announces Carly as his VP choice if nominated today?

The office of Indiana Gov Mike Pence said that Pence will not be at Cruz's 4 PM rally, therefore thatll scratch a Pence endorsement off as part of the big announcement today. So yes, I believe that all signs point to Cruz announcing at 4 PM that Carly will be his VP in the event he wins the nomination at the convention.

All but a formality now:

Sources confirm to myself & @jdistaso that @tedcruz intends to name @CarlyFiorina as VP pick if #GOP picks him. #nhpolitics #fitn

Picking a VP now seems premature to me.

Isn't that usually done after the Primaries are over?
The danger to America is not Barack Obama but the citizens capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency.

Technically they are over, Trump will never get the needed delegates, and by announcing today, Cruz steals the narrative.

So...we have one candidate who is announcing a woman for vp and another candidate who is shooting off his mouth alienating many women around the country. Just watch Christies wife in the background rolling her eyes when Trump says Hillary has nothing going for her other than being a woman...not that I disagree with that really.

But it gives you a good idea how women are going to respond to that...

Yes, but Cruz has to do something to change the narrative away from Trump. Theres 2 things that could do that 1) a Pence endorsement, and 2) a VP announcement. Pence is MIA right now. He is showing that he cares more about his re-election than taking a stand for Cruz and conservatism. So, the only option left is announcing a running mate should he become the nominee at the convention.

It had already leaked that Fiorina was on the short list of possible running mates being vetted. When choosing a running mate, typically that eventual person will be on the road with candidate campaigning so the candidate can get a feel for how they work with the person. Theres only been 2 viable options that have been on the trail with Cruz - Walker and Fiorina.

IMO, Cruz went with Fiorina for a few reasons - 1) it takes away, or severely hinders, Hillarys ability to play the woman card, 2) it gives Cruz a shot in the arm in California as well as possibly Washington, and 3) it gives Cruz a running mate that is more than willing to "get in the face" of Trump (right now) and Hillary (in the future). Someone who will be more than willing to take the gloves off and hit those 2 between the eyes.

Yes, while it is a bit premature to announce a VP choice at this time, Cruz has to do something to shift the narrative away from Trump right now.
