Ted Cruz: You bet I’m open to a SCOTUS appointment

This is a tricky one. I think we need Ted's voice and actions in the senate where he is needed the most. On the other hand he would impact the Constitution of the United States of America for a very, very long time in the SCOTUS.

If Ted Cruz is offered and accepts the SCOTUS I would like to see Sen. Mike Lee join him there. Wow would make our Constitution strong for many, many years to come.

Then there is the conspiracy side of this. Maybe the democrats don't have to worry wiping out the strong Conservatives from congress....Trump is doing it for them....

Cruz: You bet I'm open to a SCOTUS appointment

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is not ruling out the possibility of filling the Supreme Court's open seat.

Asked Friday at a National Lawyers Convention event whether he'd accept a high court nomination, Cruz responded: "What I will say is that history is long and can take unexpected paths."

"I think it is absolutely vital that that seat and every other seat that comes vacant on the court be filled principle constitutionalists who will be faithful to the law and will check their own policy preferences at the door," he added.

Cruz's and Lee's youth are a huge plus.  They'll be there forever.

I don't think Cruz is going anywhere.  I believe his direction is still focused on the presidency in 2020 and the perhaps a seat on the bench afterward.  I think his comments in this interview makes things crystal clear:

I agree. Cruz' talents would be wasted locked away in a permanent SCOTUS appointment.

Just a side note, what's with the news doing all these full body shots?  Is this a beauty contest or a news cast?

It sounds like Donald and Ted have buried the hatchet, and with any luck, Ted will be reminding Donald to "make this count" now that Republicans have won.  Donald Trump has a golden opportunity to FIX THINGS and turn this country around, like Reagan did.  If I were Donald, and the states they came from would appoint or elect another conservative if they were picked - I'd give serious consideration to any position they asked for.   Justice Cruz & Justice Lee sounds pretty good to me!

Yep. There are plenty of conservative judges in their forties who would fulfill our desires. We need Cruz and Lee in the senate to keep an eye on the RINO's.

Also to keep Trump's feet in the fire and help him get his suggestions done.

Yep, if SCOTUS consisted of just one justice, then Hell yeah, I'd want Cruz in there, but seeing how there are so many qualified Conservative judges available in lower courts willing to follow the Constitution, then freeing up people like cruz to keep the Establishment GOP libs inline is far more important at the moment.

The RNC would love nothing more than to have Cruz out of the way.

Don't Justices receive SS protection ?

I'm wondering if the SS was in on Scalia's murder.

You have The US Supreme Court police.  Also the U.S. Marshals Service.  My understanding also, Secret Service protection may be extended to justices based on specific circumstances by Presidential order.

The don't have 24 hour a day protection, just the same as congressmen/woman.

Power is controlled by both party's.  Just look, we do not control there Pay, Healthcare, Retirement Plans or how and where they travel.   The only thing we can do is vote them in or out of office or jail them over time.

...hmm...guess I'm not the only one that still thinks Scalia's death was too 'timely'.

It almost worked, too.

Didn't it ?

Way, way too close a call.
