Same excuses have been used for imperialism since human civilization started.

" We help prop up the best of the worst dictators " - Come on ...

Also, can you provide evidence of the USSR funding the hippie movement or the gay rights movement.
You see, this is why is so frustrating talking to lib kids, they have no historical context to measure against.
Tell you what, instead of me trying to break through your educational brainwashing, why don't you do a search on USSR and the Hippie movement, read as much as you can, and tell me I'm wrong, tell me, a man that lived the era and saw with his very own eyes what commies did to this Nation, and try calling me a liar when I tell you Hussein is a Marxist for continuing the exact same agenda.

Now get busy educating YOUR OWN SELF for a change, look it up, USSR and the Hippie movement.

QuoteThey were so prosperous before the United States.  They barely have plumbing.  We're landing robots on Mars.  Try again.

What ? Because we can land robots on mars and they can't, they don't have any right to self-determination or sovereignty.

There is no connection between the level of technology middle east countries have compared to us and our foreign policy. I can't even begin to understand the logic behind this statement.

I don't know about equal, but at least they would have more of an opportunity to govern themselves and not be ruled by despotic regimes.

It would also help us with the war against 'terrorism' and how people see us in the world. We wouldn't be that superpower that preaches democracy and peace, but supports everything but in practice.

As one person once said when asked " How do we stop terrorism ?"  " Well, it is very simple, stop participating in it. That alone will significantly reduce the amount of terrorism in the world. "

To answer your question, look at Japan and Korea, both now surpass any camel screwing Arab country, and why you ask?
Because they share our Capitalist interests.

But, did you do your homework and discover I wasn't lying about the commie movement and Hussein?

Why would I care about how we're viewed in the world?  I wish they would see us in a worse light, so they'd stop leaving their countries and coming here.

I'm still waiting for his evidence that proves I was lying, that the hippies were influenced by the commies.
Whatever he comes up with, should be extremely entertaining, and proof he is nothing but a tool of the Marxists.

You should care. Because it builds hatred and resentment against us.

"Conservative organizations and writers and some defectors from Soviet intelligence have claimed that the non-aligned peace movement was controlled by the Soviet Union.
In 1951 the House Committee on Un-American Activities published The Communist "Peace" Offensive, which detailed the activities of the WPC and of numerous affiliated organisations. It listed dozens of American organisations and hundreds of Americans who had been involved in peace meetings, conferences and petitions. It noted, "that some of the persons who are so described in either the text or the appendix withdrew their support and/or affiliation with these organizations when the Communist character of these organizations was discovered. There may also be persons whose names were used as sponsors or affiliates of these organizations without permission or knowledge of the individuals involved."[17]
In 1982 the Heritage Foundation published Moscow and the Peace Offensive, which said that non-aligned peace organizations advocated similar policies on defence and disarmament to the Soviet Union. It argued that "pacifists and concerned Christians had been drawn into the Communist campaign largely unaware if its real sponsorship."[18]
Russian GRU defector Stanislav Lunev said in his autobiography that "the GRU and the KGB helped to fund just about every antiwar movement and organization in America and abroad," and that during the Vietnam War the USSR gave $1 billion to American anti-war movements, more than it gave to the VietCong.[19] Lunev described this as a "hugely successful campaign and well worth the cost".[19] According to Time magazine, a US State Department official estimated that the KGB may have spent $600 million on the peace offensive up to 1983, channeling funds through national Communist parties or the World Peace Council "to a host of new antiwar organizations that would, in many cases, reject the financial help if they knew the source."[13] Richard Felix Staar in his book Foreign Policies of the Soviet Union says that non-communist peace movements without overt ties to the USSR were "virtually controlled" by it. [20] Neither Lunev, Time or Staar name any non-aligned peace group that has been funded or otherwise influenced by the Soviet Union. Lord Chalfont claimed that the Soviet Union was giving the European peace movement £100 million a year. Bruce Kent, one-time general secretary of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND), said. "If they were, it was certainly not getting to our grotty little office in Finsbury Park."[21] The Federation of Conservative Students (FCS) alleged Soviet funding of CND. They were sued for libel by Dan Smith, a CND worker, backed down, issued an apology and paid costs.[22]
In 1985 Time magazine noted "the suspicions of some Western scientists that the nuclear winter scenario was promoted by Moscow to give antinuclear groups in the U.S. and Europe some fresh ammunition against America's arms buildup."[23] Sergei Tretyakov claimed that the data behind the nuclear winter scenario was faked by the KGB and spread in the west as part of a campaign against Pershing missiles.[24] He said that a key paper in the development of the nuclear winter scenario, "Twilight at Noon" by Paul Crutzen and John Birks (1982),[25] was published as a result of this KGB influence. However, Starley L. Thompson of the National Center for Atmospheric Research, Boulder, Colorado, says that the nuclear winter model was developed in the United States in the early 1970s.[26]"

That is what I came up with. Notice how it is 'claims'. You can't take this as history. On the same google search there are links to " The CIA created the Hippie movement."

QuoteI feel bad now that we've been holding down these peaceful middle eastern countries.

That is good. You're aware of your countries' actions. I also feel bad that politicians who represent ( or are supposed to anyway) me in act policies which do this to other countries. We should stop this.
