Leahy's rewritten bill would allow more than 22 agencies -- including the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Federal Communications Commission -- to access Americans' e-mail, Google Docs files, Facebook wall posts, and Twitter direct messages without a search warrant. It also would give the FBI and Homeland Security more authority, in some circumstances, to gain full access to Internet accounts without notifying either the owner or a judge. (CNET obtained the revised draft from a source involved in the negotiations with Leahy.)

Q PATRIOT!!!

kramarat

I assumed that all of that was already being done under the patriot act. Especially since the those rules have been rewritten to include "patriot groups" as potential terrorists.

I think we're already at the point where we don't have the privacy that we think we do. Everything is monitored.

Yawn

As far as I know, that was NEVER the case.  They could monitor telephone conversations only when someone in this country was communicating with a known terrorist org outside the USA.  I may be wrong, but that was my understanding.

Eh, leftists (because apparently I am not allowed to call them libs anymore) think that freedom of speech isn't really all that important.  Certainly not as important as the right to bear arms, er, maybe, freedom of religion, or maybe, hmmm having trouble here.  Yeah, leftists think our freedoms are so, like, totally over rated.

Hey, remember the lefts indignation over the expansion of the patriot act, and the  creation of the NDAA?  Yeah, I don't either.

Unfortuntely, the ACLU only gets loud when a republican is in office.

After reading that article I have a question? Will we be able to receive mail and packages at the FEMA camps?

It's difficult to fly with dangly bits.  Not aerodynamically sound, don't you know?  That's why Superman wears tights.

Talk about OLD news.
Can you spell Patriot Act?
You know, that thing enacted by the Bush administration?

Lets be serious Solar.
The only ones complaining about the Patriot act and ALL these government intrusion items IS the LIBERALS.

http://www.cnn.com/2003/LAW/07/30/patriot.act/index.html

THEN there is the 7 Senators who voted against the Patriot act, ALL DEMS.

Blaming the LIBERALS for the Patriot Act is is flat out right wing FANTASY.

Show me some law suits by right wing groups against the Patriot act.
