It's both.  CNN talking heads want ratings and want to keep Trump out of the White House. Fox talking heads want ratings and want to keep Trump in the White House. If Trump ends up not being the nominee, Fox will want to get whoever the Republican nominee is into the White House and CNN will want to keep Biden in the White House , Because that's what their viewers want to hear.

Anderson Cooper doesn't make $15 million a year because he has an attractive face.

My claim was that they all had an agenda. what you fail to realize is that agenda comes BEFORE ratings. Msnbc, Cnn, and whoever the other one is, will never become Trump backers, will never tell the truth, because their agenda comes first.
