The Justice Department's inspector general has released a report detailing former FBI Director James Comey's handling of classified information in the Russia investigation.

The big picture: President Trump and his allies, who have repeatedly accused Comey of lying and leaking, have hoped that this report would vindicate Trump's claims that the Russia investigation was a witch hunt. The inspector general found that Comey violated DOJ and FBI policies and his employment agreement, but after evaluating the IG's findings, the Justice Department declined prosecution.

The report is separate from the IG's broader report on the Justice Department's handling of the Russia investigation, signaling that Comey's conduct warranted its own investigation.
"The responsibility to protect sensitive law enforcement information falls in large part to the employees of the FBI who have access to it through their daily duties. ... Former Director Comey failed to live up to this responsibility. By not safeguarding sensitive information obtained during the course of his FBI employment, and by using it to create public pressure for official action, Comey set a dangerous example for the over 35,000 current FBI employees—and the many thousands more former FBI employees—who similarly have access to or knowledge of non-public information."
The backdrop: Last month, the DOJ determined that it was not going to prosecute Comey for leaking memos he wrote about his conversations with Trump and other White House officials, despite a referral from inspector general Michael Horowitz.

Comey's memos, some of which included classified information, were reviewed in former special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into whether Trump obstructed justice.
DOJ said they declined to charge Comey "in part because they didn't believe there was evidence to show Comey knew and intended to violate laws on handling classified information."

I agree. What a bunch of BS!  Is there anyone out there that is will to actually do the job of  AG?  Trump has extremely bad judgement when it comes to personal issues. Barr should be fired immediately if not sooner.

Think back about how Trump works. There is a lot of disinformation being dispersed to the public, I even saw where D'Jinova said "don't expect prosecutions of the Obozo admin", two days ago.
I think they are trying to get the left to drop their guard a bit, why? Who knows, but Barr is still in charge and can bring charges at any time he likes, regardless of what some low level grunt says, Barr is still the head prosecutor of the country.

This smells of a back room deal that the establishment has made. I predict that the IG report will be more of the same and nobody will go to jail or even be held accountable, what a joke. There is a 2 tiered system of justice in this country where the right is convicted of process crimes while the traitors and fraudsters go scott free because they are Libs.

Keep in mind this is just the IG report. Barr has another entire investigation going on. I believe he is looking at possibly more severe crimes that include many more folks than Comey.

They let him slide on the leaking charges.  That's like the guy who walks into a grocery store and kills everyone and grabs a pack of gum on the way out.  They're dropping the shoplifting charge.

I'm actually pretty encouraged about this, as odd as it seems.

Agree! There is far more to this than meets the eye.

At this point they should just stop wasting tax  payer money on investigations. There's no reason to investigate if you're not going to prosecute the guilty. Fire Barr.

the man literally testified under oath that he gave classified information to reporters with the intent that it be made public.

how in christs name can this report dispute comeys own public admission ande confession of crimes under oath?

You and Solar may be right. I guess we'll have to wait and see. There are people in prison for doing much less.

I can't quote everyone at one time, in one post, I'm not that smart as far as this computer stuff is concern but I'll like to address me flying off the handle with a knee jerk reaction of the news that Comey will not be prosecuted for the crimes he committed against the American people.

If this was some bullshit crime the FBI director committed I say what the hell they are just trying to get a jump on a guilty man. But hell the FBI, DOJ, CIA all tried and overthrow a PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION of the United States of America.

Hell, folks they have text messengers between FBI agents and lawyers stating just that. I can go on and on but you guys know better than me this was a coup. A conscious decision by the FBI, CIA, and DOJ to commit treason at the highest level. I guess I'm preaching to the choir.

I just hope AG Barr doesn't add Banana to our Republic for which I stand......!
