The Justice Department's inspector general has released a report detailing former FBI Director James Comey's handling of classified information in the Russia investigation.
The big picture: President Trump and his allies, who have repeatedly accused Comey of lying and leaking, have hoped that this report would vindicate Trump's claims that the Russia investigation was a witch hunt. The inspector general found that Comey violated DOJ and FBI policies and his employment agreement, but after evaluating the IG's findings, the Justice Department declined prosecution.
The report is separate from the IG's broader report on the Justice Department's handling of the Russia investigation, signaling that Comey's conduct warranted its own investigation.
"The responsibility to protect sensitive law enforcement information falls in large part to the employees of the FBI who have access to it through their daily duties. ... Former Director Comey failed to live up to this responsibility. By not safeguarding sensitive information obtained during the course of his FBI employment, and by using it to create public pressure for official action, Comey set a dangerous example for the over 35,000 current FBI employees—and the many thousands more former FBI employees—who similarly have access to or knowledge of non-public information."
The backdrop: Last month, the DOJ determined that it was not going to prosecute Comey for leaking memos he wrote about his conversations with Trump and other White House officials, despite a referral from inspector general Michael Horowitz.
Comey's memos, some of which included classified information, were reviewed in former special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into whether Trump obstructed justice.
DOJ said they declined to charge Comey "in part because they didn't believe there was evidence to show Comey knew and intended to violate laws on handling classified information."

Comey tweeted this in response...
QuoteDOJ IG "found no evidence that Comey or his attorneys released any of the classified information contained in any of the memos to members of the media." I don't need a public apology from those who defamed me, but a quick message with a "sorry we lied about you" would be nice.

And now he wants an apology? I swear, the only reason he's being allowed to skate is because he turned States Evidence against all those involved.
Chamberlain just smiled from his grave knowing someone just took the banner of "Traitor".

I am friggin' pissed. Once again the law abiding citizens of the United States of America have to live by the laws of the land and the privileged get to do what the hell they want no matter how many lives are destroyed.
This is the last straw and I'm convinced that the DOJ being lead by William Barr, Loretta Lynch, or Eric Holder take the blinders of Lady Justice when it comes to people they rub shoulders with. It's a frggin' act at the DOJ this time starting William Barr instead of Loretta Lynch or Eric Holder.
If President Trump doesn't fire William Barr over this scam on the law abiding citizens of the United States of America than I just might write in Ted Cruz again.

Think back about how Trump works. There is a lot of disinformation being dispersed to the public, I even saw where D'Jinova said "don't expect prosecutions of the Obozo admin", two days ago.
I think they are trying to get the left to drop their guard a bit, why? Who knows, but Barr is still in charge and can bring charges at any time he likes, regardless of what some low level grunt says, Barr is still the head prosecutor of the country.
This smells of a back room deal that the establishment has made. I predict that the IG report will be more of the same and nobody will go to jail or even be held accountable, what a joke. There is a 2 tiered system of justice in this country where the right is convicted of process crimes while the traitors and fraudsters go scott free because they are Libs.

Keep in mind this is just the IG report. Barr has another entire investigation going on. I believe he is looking at possibly more severe crimes that include many more folks than Comey.
They let him slide on the leaking charges. That's like the guy who walks into a grocery store and kills everyone and grabs a pack of gum on the way out. They're dropping the shoplifting charge.
I'm actually pretty encouraged about this, as odd as it seems.

Excellent article!
And here it is, the reason they aren't bothering with it at the moment:
"A failed prosecution at this juncture would prove problematic to the overall investigation of Spygate. The IG's pending report on FISA abuse is far more important and potentially significantly more damning."
I think General Flynn needs to appeal and get the "set a bad precedent" verdict that Comey recieved.
The US government is a criminal organization that just tells those that get caught to lay low for awhile and the guilty are given millions to do that. Thrown out of office?? No problem. Here is a retirement. A new position at a liberal university. Write a book and we will get rich Democrats to buy mowt of them and store them in a warehouse with all Hillary's books.
The business owner is being driven to poverty by regulation, taxes, lawyers and new government programs to pay all these corrupt Democrats government officials that had to leave office because they got caught and have to become neighbors to Louis Lerner.

Which could possibly lead to a bigger fish. I personally do not believe Comey was the lead puppeteer.
After this I will not commit on this subject any longer. I don't wanna over turn the apple cart and bring bad vibes to this thread. Letting Comey off the hook no matter how small his crimes may be to some people. I myself know he and the rest of the FBI, CIA,and DOJ tried to overthrow a duly elected President and while in office they tried a coup on a sitting President of the United States of America Donald J. Trump.
Trump has one more year in office and if by a crazy chance he is not re-elected then this investigation ends with him leaving office. All players walk free and get away with the biggest crime in American history. This is why I wanted them to arrest these fools way before this 2020 election. I just think it's a lot louder dropping charges than dropping an investigation if Trump was to lose re-election.
If Trump does get re-elect which I believe to be in the upper 90% chance then I will sit back like a church mouse and watch this investigation to its end.
I still think it was the biggest mistake in American history to let these lawless men that ran the FBI, CIA, and DOJ off the hook. The fish is on the hook, bring it in the friggin boat. If I'm wrong I have no problem getting egg on my face and I will wear it proud.

If this is the case then Hillary did not commit a crime with leaking "classified material". She just "violating policy" and all that "lock her up" crap was for nothing but a rally cry. Kind of like a sport cheer.
Now if leaking "classified material" is a crime Comey did commit a crime and the report says that he did leak "classified material" which my understanding is a crime.
Highlights From the IG's Report on Former FBI Director James ComeyComey had told the IG that he believed the memos shared with his attorneys did not contain any classified information.
However, the IG noted that specifically: "Memos 1 and 3 contained information classified at the
'SECRET' level, and that Memos 2 and 7 contained small amounts of information classified at the
'CONFIDENTIAL' level—although Comey redacted all classified information in Memo 7 before sending to his attorneys."
On May 14, 2017, Comey provided electronic copies of Memos 2, 4, 6, and 7 to one of his personal attorneys, who subsequently shared the memos with two additional attorneys several days later on May 17, 2017. Memo 2 contained six words, four of which were names of specific countries that the FBI later deemed to be
classified.https://www.theepochtimes.com/details-from-the-igs-report-on-former-fbi-director-james-comey_3062037.html

Like I said earlier. This is akin to a bank robber parking in a no parking zone, he gets caught robbing the bank and killing everyone in the bank, and all the media talks about is how they dropped the parking violation. Think of FISA as the actual robbery and murder. That conviction is coming soon.
Oh, and relax, Trump will win in a bloody landslide. The Dim party is split wide open and hemorrhaging members.

This may be old and only scratches the surface, but the investigation is still under way. This is why this story about Comey is mere distraction.

Hey folks. Just remember. Patience is a virtue. I firmly believe there is a lot going on we do not know about. That is the way it is supposed to be with a serious investigation.
My son had a computer game called Kings quest in Outer Space. Ehrn you selected the worng item it had a big musical build up like you were going to get a reward and then went "wah Wah; Nothing happened".
I feel the same way watching this draining of the swamp. Nothing happens except to conservatives who go to jail for having the day wrong in their testimony.

Then your sources for news are opinion and nothing more!
Turn off FOX, and start watching OANN, or check out Epoch Times. If you watch TV news, you aren't getting real news, it's all filtered opinion shit.

I remember that! That game was called space quest. I used to watch my dad play that and kings quest when I was a kid. Good times

I used to piss off my wife playing the original Kings Quest on my IBM clone in 1983 when I'd sit for hours with a stick figure trying to get items to unlock a one dimensional castle.
I'd get 4 hrs of sleep and still run my business and neglect her whiny ass. The game was by far more entertaining, even though it looked like it had been drawn on an Etch a Sketch.

I was going to let this drop and back out of the conversation but I'm one of those people that that are very upset and off the charts disappointed and I want AG Barr fired for his shameful failure to fulfill his duty as AG.
If everything was reversed and this coup was against a democrat president and Comey pulled his crap him and a bunch of other folks would me in jail right now. Hell, Manafort is in jail right now for the same things people on K Street are doing right now.
AG Barr gave a pass to Comey because of their deep state friendship and nobody, not even you Bongino, can tell me otherwise.
The biggest crime in American history and all this fool Bongino had to say was.... I didn't say Comey and these other players were going to get locked up. Followed by bla, bla, bla.
After all this, AG Barr showed me this very clearly. The democrat and republicans wanna fuck up the United States of America. Only the democrats are telling you to your face while the republicans are cowards and stab you in your back while calling themselves conservatives.
This was the final straw in my voting choices. If they aren't 100% in line with my conservative views I will leave my vote blank even if I was the deciding vote.
Have a great day. I'm more pissed now and I'm out.

You need to back up and see the big picture and not conflate crimes here. Barr knows this is nothing compared to what he has planned for all of them. Why waste your time on going to trial, on what amounts to a speeding ticket compared to a murder charge, and run the risk of Comey skating on the ticket?
The media is blowing this up as if it represents the entire Dim scandal and the Right falling for it and giving it legs. This is nothing!

Comey, McGabe, Strzok, Page, Ohr, Mueller, Yates, Weissmann, Hillary, Obama, and many others are still free.
Flynn, Butina, Stone, Assange, and others are not.
Why did he refuse to charge Comey?
He's in charge of releasing docs. It's been about three months since Trump put him in charge. Nothing. DOJ and FBI are fighting tooth and nail against releasing anything.
And releasing the Mueller report was against the law. Releasing any prosecution report without indictments is against the law. He's already being sued for that.
I personally like him and like the way he thinks. He exonerated trump - that's a huge plus. In my books, I made him the only grandmaster of M-theory. I am not given up on him, but I am seriously concerned.
Another mental problem for me is that Trump should at least share all the blame for not upholding the rule of law bc he is in charge.

I'm not asking about those. I'm asking about Comey specifically, and what did Barr do that you'd insinuate he's an incompetent AG?
Quote

That's because it's not over. Powell is fighting for Flynn right now and is forcing them to show their hand. Byrne just shined a light on the Butina situation, and also exposed that there's exculpatory evidence that would clear Butina. This didn't happen until it happened. Byrne also eluded to the fact that he's JUST NOW allowed to talk about this stuff.
Quote
Why did he refuse to charge Comey?
Because the case would be extremely difficult to prosecute, and would very likely end in an acquittal. That would give strength to the fake news side that we're crazy for suggesting the intelligence agencies were out to get Trump. You would give them strength and a win. No fucking thanks.
Quote

That explains why we've been getting truckloads of documents released CONSTANTLY.

This shows you don't appreciate the depth of how big the issue is. It's not just the US... it's intelligence agencies across the globe who were involved with this. This is not busting someone for starting a barfight.

It was not against the law. That's ridiculous.

I like him, and I liked Sessions. History will be kind to them.
Quote

Incorrect, and respectfully, it shows how little you understand this topic. Trump was not exonerated, because there was no crime for him to be exonerated. When Mueller said his report didn't exonerate the President, he was being correct. There was no crime, no basis for a crime, hence nothing for which the President could be exonerated. By using this terminology, you're giving validity to the fake news propaganda pushers that there was potentially a crime committed by Trump that he escaped.

I don't want to argue with you, mainly because you asked me for my opinion and I gave it to you. I understand that you disagree and it's fine. Nothing in your argument, which is basically also a set of opinions, makes me change my mind. Probably most of Trump supporters would agree with you though.

Fact: Spygate people and people involved with Hussein and the Clintons have been getting arrested. Fact: documents previously classified have been consistently released. Fact: many investigations are ongoing. Fact: the DoJ didn't think the Comey case was a slam-dunk. I'm not sure what opinions I've expressed that would otherwise serve as placeholders for a shaky premise that the bad guys are winning.
I, however, am open to changing my mind if the case can be made.

The FBI is still covering their tails. The CIA is still a anti-American organization. The media is still trying to make sure the masses hear only what the globalists want them to. People here may be informed but what is the viewership of OAN? How many members here?
I sat there and watched Hillary be proven a liar by Gowdy at the Benghazi hearings only to hear the MSM declare her victorious and innocent. No one said they caould not get Comey on a small charge and then add a larger charge, A conviction of the smaller charge actually gives them more leverage to deal with.

Do you have any idea how long the left could keep it tied up in court? That would be the plan they're counting on, and all the while the country loses interests over years of back and forth tit for tat, and finally ending in a plea agreement or dismissal. At this point, knowing Comey just got a slap, how do you think the media would spin the loss?
Why in the hell would you waste all this momentum on a stupid case that has minimal penalty,
for one guy?
Just think about it. Do we go in for the easy embarrassment of Comey, or do we wait and hang the entire mob together? Remember, he was doing this to get Clinton elected by using a phony dossier connected to the most corrupt group of Commies to ever infest the halls of power. There is a laundry list of names and charges connected to this covert political coup to steal an election from the people of the US.
But we can always take the shortcut to make the sheep feel like something was done and the real criminals escape out the backdoor all the while laughing as the court is used as a distraction.
By the way, Benghazi is not over yet, nor any of the past crimes by the obozo Administration. Once it's proven this was all a plot to steal an election, there is no reason to stop turning over rocks for commies.
Oh wait, Comey got off on a technicality and the country got bored and wants to move on. Forget it, nothing to see here.

Exactly!!! They could tie up the entire investigation. In the end, they'd all walk, and all because the nation demanded short term gratification.
I have faith in Trump, and Barr is doing what is in the best interest of the Nation.

To be clear about what you're saying:
- the major players haven't been rolled up, therefore they won't be rolled up
- if they were to be rolled up, it would have been during a timeline that you deemed acceptable
- there's no investigations ongoing, and if there were, its just all for show, because the major players haven't been rolled up yet
I always thought you have to do investigations -- as long as it may take -- before you can start rolling people up, especially in a criminal org like this. But, you seem to disagree, and if it isn't a quick investigation (or what you deem quick), then it's not going to happen and the investigators are deep-staters.
Brilliant stuff!

His answer?
No!
That should not be a surprise. Gowdy showed Hillary to be a liar in front of the Benghazi hearings only to walk out and see the media claim she was vindicated and nothing happened.
No wonder he walked away from government.
