So far, Trump has 845 delegates, while others' total is 950.
For Trump to win on the first ballot,
he must win 58% of those remaining.
He's won only 47% of those chosen so far.
https://interactives.ap.org/2016/delegate-tracker/

Trump's delegate count would almost certainly go down
on the 2nd, 3rd, etc. ballots.  He has no ground game.
He's been threatening to run as an independent in November,
"if he's not treated fairly" as he's now claiming.

Says Karl Rove:
"Republicans ... can stop worrying about Mr. Trump's threats
to run as an independent.  The reason is simple ...
by the time Republicans gather in Cleveland on July 18,
the deadline for Mr. Trump to be listed on the ballot as an independent
will already have passed in 12 states
with a combined 166 Electoral College votes.
...
Much of what Mr. Trump says is unserious bluster.
Republicans can now safely put in that category
his threat to run as an independent."

Trump's Emptiest Threat
The Donald can't bolt the GOP to run as an independent—by June it will be too late.

But what if his goal is to put hillery in the white house? Then there would be enough time to get on the other 38 (or do we still have 57 states) just to ruin Cruz chances.  I don't see a third party run either, but I can see him endorsing hillery over Cruz.

I thought a run as hillery's v.p. was a goal but terry mcAuliffe just sealed up that nomination with one brilliant move on his part. For trump to get that coveted v.p. slot now he would have to get voting rights to all convicts, enen those still in prison, or maybe voting rights for the dead. McAuliffe has just raised the bar for how low can a democrat can go.

She won't take him as VP. He's ideal as her Chief of Staff....a real power-monger's job with almost no chance of prosecution.

Her VP pick will be a Black guy. She has to energize that base and Obama is not on the ticket. Look for someone like Cory Booker or Mayor Kasim Reid of Atlanta.

I do wonder what could have been promised Trump if the conspiracy theory of him being a spoiler were true...

..cant see it being in any subordinate position, but perhaps one of his children?   I don't believe the "Trump Empire" has enough capital to support all his children's aspirations of power/success/ego

My personal belief is that Trump hates the GOP'e as libs do, he saw this as an opportunity to help his business and drop out on a high note.
Problem is, he started believing he was exactly what the media was claiming he was, Teflon Don, that he actually had a shot at the WH.
Yeah, he's that much of an idiot, so much so, he's played right into their hands like the useful idiot he is.

Thank God Ted will take the WH instead, but not before Trump does as much damage as possible, even leaving some to question the legitimacy of his a Cruz win.

A third party run would ensure a Clinton Victory.  Whether the Republican candidate is ideal or not, republicans need to unite to defeat Hillary.  Any of the starting 17 republican candidates is better than another Obama/Clinton term.

Is she cold enough to deliberately name a black guy they can justifiably dump like Nixon did Agnew (a bona fide crook)? Everything I've read indicates she does not like blacks. That's warmly reciprocated (if I may use broad satire on that "warmly").

Nope, I think she'll surround herself with that same gang that served Bubba, because they kept his worthless ass out of prison and you gotta keep the lucky-rabbit-foot that works...until it doesn't, and then there's always Ft. Marcy Park.

Theres a thing called the Sore Loser Law in more than half of the states which would prevent Trump from getting on the states ballots for the general election as a 3rd party candidate.

If a candidate runs as member of one party and loses that parties nomination, that person is not allowed to get on the ballot as a candidate of another party for the general election.
The power of the American people, when we rise up and stand for liberty, knows no bounds. - Ted Cruz
