I don't recall much terrorism in the region in past decades. Not Shia backed anyway.  US and others backed the terrorists taking down Syria. US ruined Libya, Syria, Iraq, some of Lebanon as I recall. I recall Blinken said that the middle east was peaceful before Oct 7.

Some former CIA guy said the US govt listed top sponsors of terror every year and Iran was not in the top 10 for a couple decades.

First off, Blinken, as with every other cabinet member of the Biden administration was a idiot. Two, all of the Mideast was peaceful, and growing until the Islamic fundamentalist took over. Then the main speech was death to Israel, death to America. Women were wrapped up and learning was restricted. Rape became a religion obligation.

  Afghanistan at one time, and not that long ago, was a very progressive place, women went to college, got a degree. Now they wear burkas. Islamic fundamentalism decided women should not be educated, seen, vote, get the point?

Israel had nothing to do with that. They believe women had equal rights to education, responsibility, and to achieve all they could. Sounds pretty much like what we used to believe when this country held women in a higher regard. Ask yourself, where is a women in the Mideast treated as an equal? The only country in the Mideast is Israel.

I understand, you blame Israel for the fact that Iran has for years waged terrorist war against them. Many liberals in this country do the same. Have you ever thought Israel has a right to exist? Israel has retaliated in force every time it has come under attack. I would hope our own country would do the same. Do you? Does Israel have the right to defend itself?

I NEVER put white hats on the Palestinians in this fight. I am not sure if there are such people as Palestinians. Maybe yes maybe no.It is possible for both sides to wear black hats in this fight.  . It is possible for two bad tribes to fight each other.

I knew all the stuff abut women and have no love for Islam. Years ago I saw or heard an Afghan woman describing how she was in medical school in the good days, when the Soviets were there. Then the US helped push them out and now she is forced to wear some bag/burka/hijab over her head and not work. I felt kinda sick as I wondered if the Soviets were the good guys and we were the bad guys.

I read Soldiers of God by Robert D. Kaplan. He embedded with the mujahedin fighting the Soviets. The women were regarded as filthy and unclean. better to have sex with a boy. He said he only knew there was a woman in the house because the food was better.

IMO Islam is better to the extent it is not followed.

I stopped following Israel after Bill Clinton put together a two state solution that Yassir Arafat rejected. Moderate Palestinian politicians were  killed.  Decades passed.. I did not pay attention.

I chose not to dig int this. Not enough time. It seems that the current Israelis go out of their way to humiliate and oppress Palestinians. I got a telegram post of an IDF soldier taking a chainsaw to an olive tree in the west bank. The owner was crying out about his olives. IMO the Israelis acted like A-holes when they did not have to. Netanyahu and his party support Hamas as both do not want a two state solution.
