Title: SCHOPENHAUER: The Art of Not Reading (6 Rules for Reading)
Post by: milos on June 05, 2021, 02:20:00 PM

I usually find that the more books a man reads - the more stupid he is. And that is because he reads too much believing that he should become smarter by reading instead of thinking. Some 99% of my ancestors were illiterate, and they were smarter than 99% of modern people, because they were thinking and not reading. Who would have thought Schopenhauer had the same notion as I.

Soooo True!!!
People think I'm nuts because I read manuals about anything, the dry info packed ones, be it how to maintain a nuke plant, or build a skyscraper, this to me is knowledge.

I don't need to read someone else opinion, mine is the correct one.

I'm always happy to curl up with a nicey written technical manual of some sort. Trouble is they're not putting them out much anymore. Mostly all a one illustrated page of cartoons in 12 languages not saying anything worthwhile or informative in any of them. I think the problem is they ran out of people that could write them.

Good point, I hadn't really noticed because when I do a search, most were written before the 90s now that you mention it.
Sad, it is truly an art form, and it takes great thinkers to compile the knowledge to put one together.
