In his younger days, my dad looked very much like Raymond Burr. Needless to say, the show was a hit at our house.
The tune is called, "Park Avenue Beat," written and arranged (probably conducted) for the series by Fred Steiner. There were at least six different recordings used for the show. The full-length song is actually a DAMN good piece of contemporary jazz! I have a Ray Coniff cover made in the 1960s that I love dearly.

I hope this works, it's the original one, and my favorite. The Virginian and Have Gun Will Travel are my favorite western series, and the Virginian theme was and still is my favorite.

I've got seasons 1-3, and seasons 1-3 of the Virginian. My grandson (15 months old) can point out James Drury, Paladin, and Matt Dillon (but not the actors Richard Boone and James Arness, only the characters).
