It looks like most of them did not live very long.   One made it to 100.

I noticed that as well, most never made it to 30.

Wow!  Interesting to say the least.  I suppose their clothes had to be special made in every instance.

I would say most clothes were special made until the 1920 or 30s.

Shoes as well, but can you imagine what a shoe that size might cost?
Let alone the fact that they wouldn't last long...

You know it's funny shoes lasted a lot long back in my younger days.  You did not get new shoes until you outgrow them and need new ones.  They were always taken to the repair shop.  Did not have sidewalks or paved roads much that would wear the down.  Back in my younger day you had work shoes and Sunday shoes.  lol

I remember that, but I had three pair including play shoes, they always stayed on the porch, because you never knew what I might step in.

But you're right, I remember the smell of the hide and glue and the constant sound of the Singer running while waiting on shoes being repaired.

I will not get shoes that can not be repaired.  Back home we had an old saddle shop and they also made cowboy boots.  Loved that smell.  It was all belt driven machines off of one drive unit over head.   You just slipped on or off a belt as you need.  It could be power by and old tractor using the power take-off if the power was out.     lol Now I am starting to feel old.
