Discussing feminism last week, I had to concede that domestic abuse was something I had very little familiarity with. As far back as I can trace my family, we have never had an instance of it. Oh, when we were kids and lived on base housing, one of the sailors got drunk and started chasing his wife around with a broom. The MP's came and we never saw him again.
My point is, domestic abuse, for the Dirt family, was something that occurred on the other side of the tracks, where people drank and carried on. Not the Dirt family. We were among the ones creating the wealth, not taking it.
So, you can imagine that when all these reports of domestic abuse starting coming in the 60's and 70's, good little middle class white boys that we were, we sympathized with feminism.
A few years later, the effect known as "give them an inch and they will take a mile" effect started to kick in. "Please help" somehow morphed into "and now we want." That's been about fifty years, and now we want a woman for President. Sadly, Obama has nearly cost me my sense of humor. But he is smiling. I guess that's what matters.
I don't like what they consider "feminism" today. Not sure I ever bought into it. I like seeing traditional roles. Unfortunately in today's economy, a lot of women (moms) have to work, they don't have a choice.
Even in our seventies, we were able to have a lively discussion on this topic.
Helps that no Hillary fans were present.
Trigger warnings are anything a liberal does not want to hear. But now they're using THERAPY DOGS and SAFE ROOMS, to protect Momma's darlings from reality!
QuoteCountering feminist misinformation with facts has landed Christina Hoff Sommers, an avowed feminist and avid number cruncher at the American Enterprise Institute, into a cauldron on American college campuses and into a new alliance with gamers.
Over the last two years when a swarm of gender studies feminists attacked gaming as sexist, racist and offensive based on their social justice narratives, the incensed gamers pushed back against the authoritarian leftists and found an ally in Sommers, a scholar and author who calls on feminism to be grounded in reality and truth. Looking at the games and the research, she decreed the gamers falsely accused. They called her "Based Mom."
A lecturer on college campuses since the 90s, this year she witnessed something noticeably darker and more troubling. Upon her arrival at Oberlin, Georgetown and other campuses, they issued "trigger warnings," saying "her very presence is a form of violence," and that she "is threatening their mental health." At Oberlin College, 30 students and a therapy dog retreated into an infantilizing "safe room" to escape uncomfortable facts by the entertaining writer.

All by design from both party's. Leftists wanted to destroy the family unit, while the crony capitalists in the GOP saw a new mkt ready to exploit.

"Feminism" is nothing more than another distraction play by the left. The democrats are in such a mess that they are searching for anything to distract from their failures. At the present time they are pressing three distractions. Gay Marriage. Southern heritage. Feminism. Of course the MSM is all in with them.
BTW, anyone heard of a Debbie Wasserman Schultz sighting. Is there a silver alert out for her?

Yep, divide and conquer.
If we had actual Representation in Congress, this would all be a series of moot points.
Academia. It is amazing what they have accomplished. Under the guise of reform and critical thinking, they have produced the snowflake generation. Melts in your hand.
The funniest thing is that they have not caught on to the irony. As soon as they catch on, the therapy dogs and safe rooms are gone.

How many decades now have they booked overflow audiences into college lecture halls, where women study how to be women? How many Male Studies courses are out there, for balance? How many colleges would mandate sensitivity training for women, over male issues such as false accusations of rape, "male prerogative," and the newest affront: MANSPLAINING.
If a man tries to explain anything to a woman, "mansplaining" presumes he is talking down to her. If a woman explains anything to a man, it therefore stands to reason that HER motive would be the same, but no. Not in Brave New Academia.

I recall during the Clinton years, Washington moved in and crushed the import of Asian women, mostly Chinese, Philipino, and Taiwan. Goodness knows, the Chinese could spare them, and they were most happy to be wives and mothers in the American home. Many men found wives that way and it seemed to be working out fine. The idea was if the American woman wants to work a job, let her. I never figured out why they crushed that.
Now, I think we may be seeing an abundance of Hispanic women coming on the market, excellent for wife and mother. Also, they are not so strict about making the spouse convert to Catholic, either. They seem to take to the Evangelical. On top of that, they are not so demanding of material goods.
If feminism was intended to destroy families, it may have worked for a while, but not forever.
In addition to that, females in leadership emboldens the Moslem mind. They take it as an opportunity, a sign of weakness. You know, I think they may be right about that.

What are the mussies doing differently in say Germany, where Merkel runs the show? Would this not be their ideal proving-grounds if your supposition were valid? Maybe I'm getting the wrong idea about the Huns on this but they do NOT sound like pushovers in the U.K. (United we Kneel) tradition.

That's a good question, isn't it? Another good one is why did Merkel do a public cave in on her stern stand up to Islam? That's another question. I think the difference in Germany and the US is that feminism here has come to be seen as just a part of the overall feminization of the entire national character. I think it is an illusion -- a trick played by Democrats to gain votes -- but it has been so publicized and pounded into our heads that it is very hard to see through to reality.
As it said, 6% of the population, a very shrewd 6%, is setting the agenda for the entire nation.
White men now to blame for feminism. Money saving employees and easier access to the geegee.
http://www.thinkinghousewife.com/wp/2011/09/the-men-who-created-feminism/
Why did men create feminism? If we put the question to Godwin, Laclos, and Sade, they would say-if they were honest-that liberating women from control of fathers and husbands made them more vulnerable to seduction and exploitation, and that was certainly the foundation of the Playboy philosophy, and it has been said explicitly. Capitalists would have added that by liberating women, they could lower wages and make more money-remember it was the Republicans and the Chamber of Commerce that came up with the equal rights amendment and "Equal pay for equal work."
Feminism is a bunch of crap.
Yes, we used to live in a patriarchal society. So what? That's history, and it did serve a purpose of the times. We no longer live in those times. Today we have laws on the books that protect women's civil rights. In many cases, like parental control, support and rape accusations, they are given the benefit of the doubt.
You go back to the basics, where men are men and women are women. You can't, no matter how hard you try, to change the nature of the beasts. They are physically different, they think and process information differently. Women have the babies and have better intuition and nurturing abilities than men, which is a benefit for babies and young children. Of course there are always exceptions. Men are less fearful. That's why they have been the explorers, soldiers, hunters, builders etc. I find men basic and uncomplicated if you understand and respect their natures. Women, by nature, use their so called "feminism" to manipulate men to get what they want.

We had two daughters and one son. The boy was in between the girls. Then he had to put up with the other fifteen girl that always call us mom and dad. It's a wonder he came out normal.

Couple of things I'd like to see the ladies get over. First is victimization and entitlement. Second is anything you can. do, I can do better. Third, is male leaders have to appeal to the female instincts. Ever notice the historic break after WWII, starting with IKE, the presidents looked progressively more boyish, less manly?
I mean, the Kennedy brothers and Jimmy C. were off the scale. They cultivated the school boy look. Bush and Reagan gave us a break, then on to Clinton and boy oh boy Barack Obama, who appears in shorts. Rand Paul looks like a GQ subscriber.
When I first saw Cruz, my comment was, "Can't happen. He is too much man."

Feminists bought into the promise of the Democratic Party, "Stick with us, we'll take care of you," never stopping to recognize the tyranny that underlies Washington's particular brand of control of mind, body, and soul. The demonization of men, white men, older, successful white men, holds a key to unraveling the evil scheme.
Now, Washington is stuck. It has made promises it can no longer keep. Barack Obama is going to wind up the scape goat, the patsy.
