8" King... the only trouble is that I'm having trouble finding a board with large enough squares. I've contacted a woodworker to see if he'll make a custom size for me. My oldest granddaughter (11 years old) is jumping up and down. She's a little chess wizard!

Wow!! That a very nice looking set of Chess Pieces. The set I have is about 1/2 that size. My BIL got it for me over 50 years ago in Japan.

I'd love to see a pic of it!
I think the older pieces are so much nicer than what is currently out there. They've gotten so "far out", there are even "Simpsons" chess pieces, ha! (I'll pass on those, nothing against the Simpsons, but it's hard to wage a serious war with Homer and Marge.)
These are from England. Congratulations to you and me for not buying from China, ha!

Sorry I don't do up loads of photos now. Stopped about 20 years ago. I have been on boards for years, and I had some Stalker on my butt by using photos. That why I only use things that are on the net by other only.

The Internet is a weird place, I'll grant you that. I upload my photos to my own server and cut out the middle man.

Thanks!! I have a woodworker making a custom sized board for them. Maybe my game will improve now that I can actually see the pieces. 😂

YOu know I got my kids computer when they were young. So they could learn. Now they show me things, that I don't know. My grandson now 25 show me thing that just blow my mind. He is in IT now the last time he was over he set up my three monitors. Then clean up my computer, he did thing so fast my old eyes could not keep up with him on what he was doing.
I ask him how was I to do all that when your not around, he said that's ok Pop's I put Zoom on your computer. So I can fix your computer problems. Just call me and we will set up a Zoom call and I can fix things remotely. And to think he sit on my knee and played on the computer in grade school.

I know what you mean! In my day, I had all I could do in school to keep up with the three "Rs". My granddaughter is learning "Latin, Logic and Rhetoric".

I bought them from a guy who bought them at an estate sale, I think either in upstate New York or Pennsylvania. Somewhere up North, which all gets fuzzy once I cross the Mason-Dixon, ha!
