Title: Why is it called Plaster of Paris.....

When I broke my arm they got it out of a cupboard in the hospital in Cardiff? Why isn't called Plaster of Cardiff?

Good question, considering the French had absolutely nothing to do with it.
Egyptians invented it for the Pyramids.

You could call it Plaster of Bert, but I think that phrase is reserved for your weekends at the pub. ;)
