Title: Who Remembers Their Hula-hoop Days?
Post by: TboneAgain on June 26, 2014, 02:48:44 PM
I invite you to check out this young lady who has learned to do some pretty cool things with a generations-old toy. There is more video of her on the 'net, especially on Facebook. She's hot and cool at the same time!

I was a 1960s hula-hoop kid, and I could never even imagine the moves this little lady makes. There's more! This is one of her early videos. Google and enjoy.

Maybe what gets me the most is the way she so effortlessly works her arms into and out of the hoop, and also how she lets the hoop drift all the way down to her knees, then brings it back up as if by magic. This young lady has a LOT of time in her unique pursuit of fame.

I mastered the hula hoop as well as the Yo-Yo.
Or should I refer to them in the way they worked for me? A hoop and a Yo, neither did as shown on TV.
The hoop hit the ground, and the Yo did just that, went down, seldom returned more than a few times.

I did, however, master the ball in a cup, and paddle ball.

You know, back in the day, the discount stores would have "single" and "double" yo-yo strings hanging on hooks right next to one another. But without that double string, you couldn't do jack. With a single string, pretty much all your yo-yo would do was go down and up, down and up. Also, the singles would break a hell of a lot faster.

That was really cool but one thing kept popping into my head while I was watching that. Why is she in the kitchen?
