What happened to Customer Service?

So, we had a couple of instances yesterday that really disappointed me.
We had found someone who could work on our Kubota generators.  He is local and mobile.  He came out and got our main one running again and we were thrilled.  There are two others that we were planning on him working on as well.

On Sunday the main one lost its field. (I say that like I know what that means.)  So, we called and left a message at his "office" number and on his cell on Tuesday.  He called that evening and said he would be out in the morning.  Morning came and went, and no one showed.  I texted – no response.  Solar called the office around 1:00 and when they answered they informed us that they had already booked him for the morning somewhere else and they didn't know when that job would be done.

So here is my problem.  Where was the phone call or text letting us know, he wouldn't be here.   Where was the apology for the mix up?  It wasn't on that phone call.  I finally got a text this morning from him telling me he was still on the other job out of town.

The office person was unapologetic or even sympathetic.  I guess they don't need the business.

My second issue was ordering "red dye" diesel fuel.  I called last Thursday and was told they would call us with a delivery date for this week.  In the past it has always been Wednesday in our area.   Once again, no phone call, no follow up, nothing.  It is now Thursday – are they just going to show up?  I have already ordered fuel from the "rival" company who has guaranteed a Friday delivery.

So my question from the beginning – whatever happened to customer service????   Toy
I pray, not wish because I have a God not a Genie.

What makes the fuel delivery so much worse, is the fact that the price can fluctuate daily, even throughout the day.
I follow the Mkts closely and energy is the most volatile in price fluctuations.
So when ordering I try and plan out a week, knowing the price will possibly be OK by the time of delivery.
They will not sell you the fuel the day you order, rather the price paid is on the day delivered.

This site used to have a "Forecast Tab" at the top, those were the days.
