The Dish satellite TV receiver for the wife's TV has not been affected with all this snow as it is very dry, it just slides right off.

We got 1" of snow over night again.
Yeah, Dish definitely has a stronger signal than does the Internet satellite, though a seriously strong cell passing by can obscure the signal on occasion.
Toy was able to go back to work, the snow is starting to melt, though rather slowly since we're in the low 20s at night, despite the forecast claiming above freezing. :glare:

Looks like we're in for more zonal flow, meaning moderately cold temps with mix rain and snow, turning to snow later in the week.
Hard to believe we'll be heading into Spring in less than a month.

So today I cleaned off 2" of snow off the deck and walkways.  There saying 1" more yet before the day is over.   This front is coming from the NW.  Not rain coming up from the South and hitting the cold North air, as the snow was more of a wet snow this time.  The forecast was calling for the snow to stop about 12 noon, now it's move out until 1:30 P.M.  It is 38ยบ out and yes it is snowing.  LOL

I'm on the leg of air being pumped up from Hawaii by the low spinning out in the Pacific, it was 63 today and kind of cloudy.
Heading out in the Razer to play before the rains hit again.
Looks like snow next week, so even more fun.

Translation: Valley flooding in Ca this coming Friday and Saturday.
Anytime you get rain on a snowpack twice the normal size, it can only absorb so much water before it melts.
There's been no mention of this locally, but I've been here all my life and have seen this three times in the last 60 years.
They better hope the levee system doesn't sprout boils...

Every time we have 6" or more of snow then along comes the rain and melts the snow.   Out comes the road grader and road box grader.  Having a mile long gravel road going up 500' the moving water cuts it's way across the road in no time at all.  This year we have been very lucky as it been a very slow melt with very little rain.  So the rain water has stayed in the rain gutters on each side of the road.

Looks like the next couple of days will be a repeat of the heavy rains that ended the drought, with snow levels @ 8000', which means valley flooding again.

I-80 Donner Summit.
Yeah, the same one where the Donner family perished. It's raining, and this spells danger for the valley because snow can only absorb so much water before it melts and hits the streams.
I awoke last night to sweat, it was 53 degrees at one am, it's now 55 and expected to hit 60 before it quits raining.
We're at 10" of rain since this system started on Friday, which brings us to a season total of 70" so far.
All of this rain is tapped into an equatorial flow and expected to continue through Friday.

In the pic. there should be at least 10' walls of snow on the roadside, there is not.

That ok as we have been getting the snow.  2 to 4" every day for the last week.  We get snow even when it don't call for it.

I take it there will be no snow pack for the spring and summer run off.

Oh, there'll be a pack alright, just not as fluffy as it would have been.
Next week starting Saturday the temps drop, it'll freeze and become what we locals call Sierra Cement.
Skiers look at the foot deep new snow on top of 12' of base and think it's all fluff, that is, till they hit the cement a foot down.

Whether it's 75, 85, or 200 mph, it's not the speed that kills ya, it's that damned hard ass snow, or in this case, frozen water.
I was a trick skier in my time, I could do shit with my face and snow that makes even the best skiers cringe.
Face plant Solar, that's me.

Rules? What rules, I was just a weekend skier.  Skiing was just over a 2 hour drive for me if I stopped for breakfast.
