We're still in the 20s every night, but if this is anything like 1990, we're screwed.
They claimed our below zero weather snap was a 100-year event, but records show they come every 30 years, and it will have been 28 when this one hits.
God knows I hope not because of everything freezes solid, even my waterfall had a 10' icicle extending out from the cliff and the water was only flowing beneath the ground.
Of course, I was on solar, but the neighbors all told me the power was out for 6 weeks solid, which means most of the county was out.

The temp has not got above 30º for sometime now.  But the snow we got is disappearing, the sun is not out but it is coming through the cloud cover.  So most of it will be gone in time for the next round starting about the weekend.

Check the satellite, you'll see a front moving N/E and currently located dead center over Oregon while pushing the cold air West over the Pacific ocean.
It's the same air mass over me now, and it's about 41 deg out and rainy.
It may or may not make it beyond Oregon, but it sure looks like it's aiming for Washington.

From what I can see it go up into Oregon moving east and by pass my area by about 200 miles.  We should not see snow again until Sunday. I hope as I will do some shopping on Thr or Friday.  Their calling for snow most every day next week in my area.

We are getting winds from the N/NNE @ 20mph. most of the day.  I can see what your taking about but it is going East of us as of right now.  But if the wind changes it could come back over the top of us.

Looks like it flattened out and went East.
Today alone, we got another 5" of rain, 43 degrees all day from this warm front and more on the way.

It's 50 deg. another inch of rain today, but by mid week, we will probably be seeing a foot of rain, while the Sierra crest will most likely see another 12' of snow.
But add to that, all this rain melting all the snow below 8000', the valley WILL be flooding like we haven't seen in decades.
In other words, Ca is in a normal weather cycle, flood to drought, and still, the Marxist DimocRAT party refuses to build reservoirs to capture it.
All of our reservoirs are near max and we're about to receive three years of normal rainfall in 4 days.
I'm so fuckin pissed at the libs in this state, and all because they want to support a false man-made ecosystem in the Bay area.

Yeah, we're looking at a pineapple express. We've had 4 in the last 50 years, a phenomenon they always claimed was a 100-year event.

I understand the droughts are a result from global warming, but what are the floods a result from?

Actually, if "warming" is taking place, wouldn't that put more moisture into the air which would make droughts less likely? I would ask a global warming nut but I don't want to ruin their day.

"Removing 90% of my brain to answer the question" Uhh, dry ground?
It's so dry it can't absorb what little rain the state gets so it runs right down the mountains and floods. Yeah, that must be it.

  Just cleaned off 4" of snow from last night from the deck and back sidewalk.  Their calling for 2" more starting about 12 noon.  Did not used the snow thrower as I did not clean in front garage yet as it calling for two more days of snow.  Then there will be more snow that I care to move by hand.

If you hang onto the cold you're experiencing, you might just see record snow in the area.
You're getting the same moisture flow we're getting which was off of Hawaii and a bit cooler, but now is changing over to Equatorial flow, with increased moisture content. yes, straight off the Equator.
They're predicting a possibility of 14" of rain in the next 5 days here.
You can definitely expect to see Ca valley flooding dominating the news cycle next week.
There goes the Dims limelight.

Oh, and I said that because that was what some leftist moron said in a news article, I kid you not.
His claim was that man was causing a parched earth syndrome, where the earth was so dry, it was unable to absorb water.
If the guy had the first inkling of topography and geology, he'd know that much of the Sierra is pushed up lake bottom millions of years old, fractured and turned on end and open like a sieve to capture water.
In the summer months, I can pee in one spot and it goes straight through the dirt. Libs are idiots.

I just got 5" of new snow after cleaning the old snow off, and they said I would only get 1'.       The snow thrower will get a good work out in the morning  I have 3' snow drifts in front of the garage and there will be more over night.

Today there were two fox walking across the ice over to the island.  From side to side it about half a mile across to the island.  Before the snow the ducks look like bowling balls sliding into each other when landing, but now it covered with snow.
