My son and his lady frind will be over for the weekend. No Fireworks around my area at all. Way dry now and if a fire started not good. They can drink lol so I will take them around to the wineries for tasting and get them some nice wine they like.
That sounds like fun. I have to come up with an easy menu and figure out what to do to entertain my gal pal that just had back surgery...she isnt walkin well yet...., maybe she will be up to making snow flakes with me, I have to make a ton of them for Christmas in July party at the river.....
Probably just relax with ST since fireworks are not allowed in the Sierra Nevada mt range.
We will probably take a ride on the quad and go laugh at all the drunk Bay area people that came up to get stupid. :D
Cabin time for us.......hopefully the weather will hold enough so we can take a boat ride to skydive and watch the fireworks from the middle of the river..... if not we will be stuck on land. But thats ok to...
Traditionally we go to the river and have our picnic with grilling and such, but for health reasons I can't do it this year, so we're staying home. We'll still grill, though, but no fireworks due to drought.

January 3, more or less. Jackson was due Dec. 6 and arrived Nov. 13th, so we'll see. Don't know yet if it's a boy or girl, but I'll be happy either way. ^-^
Usually hubby grills sausage (I love beer brats), some venison if we have it, hamburgers, hot dogs, and some times, what we call a "hobo dinner": you put about a pound of hamburger meat with some veggies (potatoes, carrots, etc), in Reynold's Wrap and grill it like that. Use whatever seasoning you like, my herb garden did great so I'm going to use cilantro this time. They're really good.
A new Year baby,,,thats wonderful. Well 3 canceled on us... no big deal. The 2 are still coming and she is making key lime pie, they are bringing filet mignon and fresh corn.... and lunch n breakfast stuff. None of us can have hot dogs or hamburgers,lol... diet issues,,, she does like chicken and he cant have pork,lol.... I am stuck with a food problem,lol...... I'll figure it out,,,,,, figure to walk around the store for a while it will come to me,lol.
We do hobo stew a totally different way at the river..... it takes a bunch of us, they go get a brand new steel garbage can and they everyone bring meats, veggies, potatoes, whatever sounds good, cook it over a fire for hours, take turns stirring,lol... dang thats some good stuff on a fall day..... :)

Thanks for the hobo stew tip, I think we'll try that one this fall. My son is on a diet (he's a bodybuilder) so no red meats for him. He eats turkey burgers, I don't really like them, but have tried veggie burgers; they're OK I guess...I just like plain old fashioned ground beef, and I've never been able to turn down fried chicken... ;) LOL, it's hard to be on a diet when one is Southern and learned to cook at Grandma's knee.... :-[

I hear that! But it gets easier cooking the diet stuff,,, doesnt mean I like it much..lol.... So it is decided,,,, venison tacos with fruits n raw veggies,,, and then Monday its salad time, big ol chef salads and some crusty bread... easy.... I honestly dont wanna see baked beans, or anything regular,lmao....
Chicken burgers are good if ya gunk em up with different stuff to spice it up a bit.... then again, I just do portabella, the big ones... they work good to.... :)

Venison tacos...sounds really good, I think I'll steal that from you. ;) I've heard about the portabella burgers, are they really good? I might try a couple and see, hubby is on a low sodium/cholesterol diet for high blood pressure. I never liked chicken burgers but I love chicken salad. I'm going to do a potato salad but I'm going to use new (red) potatoes this time, skin on, and spice it up differently. I love to take a traditional dish and change it around.
BTW, has anyone heard from Kay? I haven't been around in a while... :-[ ...but I don't see her posting anywhere. Hope all is well with her.

Portabella's work well if they are the big thick ones.... not that I would put ketsup on it,lol,,, but give it a shot...
I been a cholesterol kid for a while now, there's a couple others around to.... this acquiring age isn't for sissys I'll tell ya,lol
Dont have a clue about her. She'll be back I figure......:)
