May of '77...  I remember the ambiance of the audience.  The smatterings of laughter at scenes where laughter was supposed to result... the mark of a good film.  Some honest " Oh, wow " utterances.  A few days later, I felt the urge to see it again.

Big difference from the second trilogy where audience screams were heard, "Brain bleach! Give me brain bleach!"

Yeah... the cringing 'cuteness-factor' was fully emerging.  The self-awareness.

What sort of barbecue sauce would work best for Jar-Jar Binks? How deep a hole can we bury all prints of those films?

I remember seeing it when I was little, but now I'm not sure how.  I was born in '74, before cable, and no VCR.  I would have had to have been at least a few years old to be into it, so maybe 1979?  1980?  I watched it a bunch, and Empire Strikes Back.  I had all the toys, soundtrack, etc.  Now I'm not sure how??

I was managing Shakey's pizza at the time it came out, and Shaky himself had a bootleg copy on tape and it played day in and day out for a year.
God, I hate that bar theme music to this day. :scared:

I asked my mother.  She said we saw it in theatres.  I guess I was 3 or 4 after all...
