The Soo Locks are an engineering marvel, and it's a really interesting trip to go through (as I've done). So excuse a little home-state rah-rah here, and I hope you enjoy the video.

We're right in the path of all that (ahem) "pan-Canadian climate." Today for example it was 23 and snowing at 8:45 a.m., and it's now bone-dry and no snow and 36 degrees at 10:54 p.m. In between there was intermittent gloom broken up by vast pockets of gray.
Somebody strangle that damn groundhog. We won't see spring until August.

 Today I put on 500 lbs. of lawn fertilizer. Also fertilized all my roses. Ever thing is budding out. There talking in the 70º all this week. With the sun out it will feel like 80º.
We are still 15 degrees below normal for the year, snow covers everything. We are at least a month from seeing a green lawn. I ready for spring but MN rarely gets the memo.
My kids even went snowmobiling with friends yesterday.

They just broke the ice under the Mackinac Bridge and cleared a path to Mackinac Island (the jewel in Michigan's vacation crown). And may I say, if you haven't been THERE, just put it on your Bucket List because yes, it really is worth the effort to go see it.

So's Michigan International Speedway... And Greenfield Village. And the Henry Ford Museum. Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes. More lighthouses than almost anywhere else. Trees---we do good trees. Greenies go crazy hiking our woods and fishermen the same, drowning worms in our thousands of lakes and streams.
The ice season ended and this year there weren't nearly as many reports of people falling through thin ice. The skiiers weren't thrilled but they still had slopes to plummet. Even Global Wormening didn't kill winter. But now the ice is broken and the tourist season lies ahead.
We have Paradise, Hell, and Climax. We even have (why,
fancy that!) a Rose City.
Say yes to Michigan. And of course to God, Mom, apple pie and NASCAR.
(I thank you... )
