I just viewed an obituary in the Sptbg.. Herald newspaper in Sptbg. S.C. of Randy Strange who we know as RaginRebel here on our forum.  I know that he didn't post alot on this forum but he was the main agitator of the liberals on the Sptbg. forum.  Many happy exchanges with him on that forum.  He was in declining health most recently in the past decade.  He was an auto mechanic for area racing crews most notably the ARCA racing circuit.  He was married to an acquaintance of mine.  Really a nice guy.  Anyone wishing to read his obit can do so at www.seawrightfuneralhome.com.  Just type in his name under the obits column and view his obit.

He will be missed. He was very good on the old Spartanburg board.

Was he the one who put pictures of riding lawn mowers into the footer area of his posts?

I was laughing one day this past week about some pic that someone posted here of a anti liberal road sign( think it was Quiller) and I mentioned that RaginRebel had about every lib hating sign or pic that was ever made or at least one for any occasion that it could be used.  He got banned more times than I could remember but he would always come back.  He got on the Blueridge forum some too as he told me he liked to assault the libs over there.  He told me one time that the reason he didn't get on this forum alot was that he enjoyed agitating the liberals so much that he would get where there were more liberals.  Said we had it together over here and he couldn't do more than parrot what was said.  I'll miss him too.

No that was from our old boar.  He is posting there yet, but keeps changing his name now.

Thanks. I'd confused the two. My condolences to his survivors.

The road sign mentioned above was among several photos I took outside Delta, Ohio. I found this one and offer it in RaginRebel's memory.

Thanx Quiller,
I go by Ragin's home alot to get to another main road that we travel.  The rebel flag is still hanging in his yard next to our American flag.  As far as I can remember or at least since I have lived in his neighborhood, he has flown those two flags and I suspect his family will want those flags to keep flying.

It took a year of living in Georgia to understand how deep the feelings are over that same Confederate flag. If "cold dead fingers" ever applied to grabbing more than guns, it would be tearing down Dixie. It isn't a symbol of racism. Too many good people died in support of its cause.

Do you know what his illness was?

I know he was a diabetic but I'm almost as sure that he told me one time that he had suffered a stroke.  So, he had multiple diseases, most inherited, and he was disabled at at early age because of the diabetes.  Always tried to work though and take care of his Mom.  They had a beautiful home just out the road about 3 miles from our place.  He was divorced one time from a girl who later became the wife of my nephew.  They are divorced now and my nephew has remarried.  Not sure what all that stuff was about, never have asked.  Getting back to Randy, I may know some of the people who posted with us at Sptbg. that may know more about how he died and if I get in touch with any of them I'll fill you in.

My husband and I passed by the church where his funeral is being held.  We were going out for an early supper at the Red Lobster and passed by that church on the way.  There was a huge turnout for his funeral and he will be buried in the church cemetery.

Glad you said that Quiller, it is the truth.  No matter how we try to express what that flag means to us, the fact is that the blacks feel differently about it for their own reasons.  They'll just keep plugging away at that flag until it comes down too.  Then they'll start in on some other reparation that they think we owe them and they'll plug away at that one until  they get it too.

Rebel flew that flag for the reason that it was on his property and they wouldn't make him take it down-period.  He had relatives that fought in that war and he was proud of their sacrifice.

I fly the Christian flag in my yard, clearly making me a target (as if being a con servative wasn't enough to target me).  I alternate flying the American flag and Don't Tread On Me flag on different occasions.  The "sheriff" makes me shine a light at night on the Amer. flag when I fly it.  It's either that or take it in  every evening.

Update on the Strange family.  My "sheriff" passes by his house every day going to and from work.  He noticed that the flags that Rebel had hanging in his yard were replaced by brand new ones of the American Flag and the Confederate Battle Flag.  I was wondering if his mother would keep them hanging as they were getting pretty tattered.  Sentiment is still very real to this mother for her to do this, especially with all that's going on now.  I salute her love for her son and his memory.

Especially now! She's doin' it right here, all the way down the line.

I never met anyone from either coast (or from the north for that matter) who could point to any quick symbol of who they are, nearly as well as the famous Don't Tread on Me, and the Confederate Battle Flag.

This one combines both---and reinforces the independent spirit which brought so many of us to America to begin with.

I am so proud of her for this action.  I can well imagine what a mother must go through in losing a child.  Raising two new flags certainly does not bring back her son but it is just  an effort to keep his memory fresh.

Like I said about Rebel, he was an independent person.  He had multiple ailments that kept him from enjoying life to its fullest but he plugged away and tried to work and not be a burden to anyone.  You have to respect that in a person.
