Title: pretty sunday
Post by: Elfie on October 21, 2012, 08:53:06 AM
Sun is shining nicely, there is a steady breeze. Not bad if you're in the sun.  Chicken noodle soup is simmering on the stove.  Himself is removing docks and boats with help from our friends.  Last night we took the pontoon out for its last fun ride. Lol all bundled up in our winter gear, the ride was nice the stars were clear as can be. No shooting stars though but thats ok it means we got home at a decent hour.
This morning while walking Lira, one of our friends let me know to watch out for the fox he watched chase a squirrel.  Well now I know what she was all excited about. Thats not what has my hair standing though.  We have a real sighting of a female cougar.  6 saw her as she walked thru the field where the tent people camp. She didnt get excited when the one started taunting her.  She turned towards him with determination and ownership.   Then went on her way in the same manner.  This disturbs me..
But its a pretty day with the sun shining,  fall color all around and a nice breeze.

Fall colors are coming on big time for us also.  Leaves are starting to drop from the wind breakers in the front and side yard.  Cut the grass on Sat. will cut it 2 or 3 more times this year yet.  Thinking of getting a snow blower this year, have not made up my mind yet.  But been looking to see what is out there, don't need a big one.  Just something to keep the walkway, deck and cement slab into the garage clean.

LOL, That's what my uncle used to say when he came here to visit us.  He was born here, as was my mom, and the two of them were step brother and sister.  He went to Chicago as a young man and lived there until his death.  He called us flatlanders too.

I've enjoyed horseback riding and haven't in years but there is an equestrian stable on one side of where we live and a high classed Golf Club House on the other side of us.  We do have a nice setting and it's quiet here.

"Sheriff" mentioned dragging the old motorcycle out to take a ride but I don't think I should yet.  Had half a lung taken out less than a year ago and don't want to catch pneumonia.  i've been ok and don't want to push it.

I'm like you Elfie, when I ride, I just follow my nose, screw the trail and the long slow ride, I like to bust out in a full run and let the horse enjoy itself in the process.
My area is full of horse people and trails, but quite honestly, I enjoy my quad far more than a horse.

I hate hunting season, used to be people respected property rights, now they shoot from the truck.
We also have a problem with Mong people, they shoot everything, from sparrows, to pets for food.
