Post by: walkstall on November 09, 2010, 09:33:28 PM
If you had your chose of vacuum cleaners.
What would you ask for or get.

Bag Version  or  Bag-less Version

Uprights  or  Canister Vacuum

Self-powered  or  Not

I like a shop vac myself  ;D  but then it is for the house.  :-\

I have owned a Dyson for over 5 years now.  Love the thing.  Even Solar was surprised at the dirt it can pick up.

My daughter and one of my sisters  has the Animal by Dyson.  It is for people with animals.  Logical choice of names.. :)

I find it extremely easy to use. Love the bag-less feature - easy to empty.

Solar prefers a leaf blower for the house... ;D ;D

Like you, I too did my research, went to Consumers Reports, read all there was about bag-less, and they rated all of them poor, now this seemed odd, seeing how everyone that owned one, loved them.

Well I finally settled on a Hoover, turned out to be pretty good, but with one inherent problem, dust!
Here in the mountains, dust is an ongoing battle, from pollen to clay, the soil is predominantly clay from an old lake bottom that is now the Sierra mt range.
This clay will destroy a carpet in less than a year, but it is so fine, it plugs the inside of a vacuum bag within 5 minutes of use.

Well ST moves in, and goes to work, within 5 minutes of vacuuming, she has a full container, all clay dust, does this about 6 times, but the house was clean of dust.

I'm sold on the Dyson, it will pay for itself in bags alone in the first couple of years, that is up here anyway.
Buy one, they are costly, but you'll be glad you did.

ST I have been looking at them for sometime now .  Is the Dyson you have the DC24 Animal with compact Dyson Ball™ or the DC28 Animal with Airmuscle™

I have the basic Dyson.  The ball hadn't been invented yet and at the time I didn't have animals.  It made the most sense.  My sister and daughter have the Animal and love it for pet hair.
