Good guess but way off......It was a Lucky Strike cigarette ad to raise money for war bonds during WWII.

Now CL present an ad line and see if we can figure it out......

BTW...I wonder where the minds were when they created the ad......me thinks they were lookin' at large breasted women.....I know, I know...I sound like a chauvinistic pig......THANKS!

I also could have been a bra ad..........LOL!

It was Lucky Strike Cigarettes' long-running ad slogan having nothing whatsoever to do with bond sales. One ad from the wartime era does not make it anything else.

Suggest you read John Dunning's One the Air: The Encyclopedia of Old Time Radio (Viking Press) as the definitive book on radio and its sponsors. Luckies backed the Jack Benny Program throughout that era, making it the #1 rated show.

Look quiller....I have the ad in hand and at the bottom right hand corner it was encouraging everyone to buy War Bonds.....I do read and comphrehend english.

Matter of fact I have it framed and on the wall............showing tobacco that has been placed on a stick with a man carrying it into the barn where other 'stickers' of tobacco are being cured. BTW, got women in the barn working also......too much info in detail to be part of my imagination.

I would suggest that before you get jumpy and try to correct someone atleast know the whole story..........never assume you know all.

Show me where I said it was the only ad they ran dedicated to raise money for War Bonds.....I said it was 'a' ad used..... as in singular, one. indicating there might be others as well.

As a matter of fact I am mentioned as a source in both Dunning's first book on Old Time Radio, and the one I plugged above. He acknowledges me under my real name in both editions. My wife and I visited him in Denver, about four years ago now.

On to your amusing attempt to tell me I don't know my subject.

I have the entire Jack Benny run of shows with that company, and have collected Old Time Radio shows since 1970, when I worked for Armed Forces Radio. The slogan was used far longer than the war era, and although you apparently do hold a war-bond ad containing that slogan, it does NOT mean it was reserved for that purpose.

While the radio and print media ads did acknowledge corporate patriotism, selling bonds, more ads extolled things like Lucky Strike Means Fine Tobacco -- L.S.M.F.T.

I could care less who pats you on the back quiller or what you have collected.....you don't know MY story and you don't know what I meant when I posted it.

You intended for your comment as a corrective measure by assuming I meant it was the ONLY reason they made the slogan.

Quiller get a damn life, Not everything is as serious as you make out to be. This was a fun thread and you try and make it serious. It is this simple if you don't like the topic don't comment........period.

SHOW ME WHERE I SAID IT WAS RESERVED AND CREATED FOR RAISING MONEY FOR WAR BONDS ONLY.

You have a hard time understanding what the word 'a' means. Are you relatated to Clintoon because he had a hard time understanding what 'is' means. Now get off my ass about this quiller and find something you can contribute to in a positive manner.

Now....butt the F^&k out or have fun. And to think....... I use to think you were fairly intelligent, now I know better.

There will be no more discussion on this between you and me, or I will have the thread pulled.

Now back to 'Turtles'........

I assumed correctly. And when I mention I have a 40-year background collecting the single largest group of Lucky Strike commercials, and that I *DO* know how that company advertised...you give a blast of nonsense.

I suggested you read Dunning's book because he rightly gives Luckies the prominent place in radio and print advertising that it did achieve in that era.

Read and learn. Or stand there howling because you can't clarify what you meant, and instead invited the reaction you got.

What is it about that "I could care less"....that you don't understand. Are you sure you are not related to Bubba Clintoon? Dumbasses the pair of you.

You really are not what I thought you are........

Look quiller this isn't some research thread. It was meant for fun. But for some reason you seem to try and get enjoyment out of other NOT having fun.

As I said....you ain't important in my life and have no impact.

Answer the question stupid......what do you not understand about 'I could care less about your collection'.

My life is not ruled by my 'collections' and I don't seek approval from others as you seem to have a need for......

Have a good day sir or should I say troll....or it is deviate. LOL! A damn deviate, hahahahaha. No wonder your collection is so important to you...LMAO!
