advice,,,, not help... Mostly for my SIL,, she is getting really discouraged... We go everyday unless we are out of town or its the weekend. We do killer core stuff, crunch mixes, free weights, 3 kinds of lunges, work the ball, stuff more then one have come up to us and said "you guys do stuff I can't do"... but she is not real happy, she wants her gut gone... We are being told that sometimes it just wont happen,,, its the gene pool. That's unacceptable to us both. We get it but we don't by it
Anybody got anything that we can do? Some kind of series?????
yea I k now,,, we are nuts! lmao

Owning a chain of health clubs, I ran into this a lot and I won't lie, for some, it takes far more work than the majority.
Some studies show the fat gets cutoff as in the form of stored energy, the body kind of forgets it's there.
My experience with this is to increase your protein uptake, cut out all starch, pasta, taters and processed food etc.
What eventually happens is your body fat finally hits the magic number and the body finally recognizes it as a store of energy and taps it, unfortunately, very late in the game, but it does eliminate it.
Keep in mind, the body needs sugars and fat to function, so don't crash into this program, take it gradual and slowly cut way down on the junk and your body will start looking for ways to offset the amount it is used to, in turn tapping that last vestige of stored energy.
Good luck

Thanks Solar,,, I just read her what you wrote.... lol,,, she said "Oh how cool,,,you know someone (insert giggle by me here),, so we are doing everything else right?" I said sounds like it, he didn't say anything about what we do...
Now for the fun,,, I told her,,, she had to cut out the boxed stuff and the processed cheese well the processed everything... I also told her to go slow and cut 2 things out a week or until she is comfortable with it then cut out 2 more... For me it wont be hard,, I'll just go back to a hard no cholesterol food diet... It's gonna be a tough one for her, there is no doubt, she'll do it though, she wants this bad... I'm actually really happy for her, she has dumped close to 50lbs all ready.
Thanks!!!!!!
This is gonna be great!

I'd suggest she cut out all processed food completely.
Then slowly cut back on the fatty foods second, like in half for the first month, then second month, another half and so on each month until she sees the results she is after.

Thats exactly what I suggested her to do. It was the way I did it when I had to go no fat no cholesterol.. It worked....

Good, she shouldn't have any problems then.
Just kidding, it's a bitch no matter what, it's like telling someone to give up three of their favorite things, including sex and coffee. (note how I equate the two on par with one another?) I love coffee!!!

Don't tell her this, but what she is about to undertake, is harder than beating an addiction, stopping smoking would be child's play compared to changing ones eating habits.
This is changing ones lifestyle. I certainly wish here luck, at least she has a fighting chance with you as a coach.
I concur with everything Solar said. I've lost over 100lbs before, and do understand how tough it is. Changing your diet, as he said, is incredibly difficult. It takes real mental dedication. I've helped a few friends lose weight too when I was hardcore training, and it is difficult for them to stick with it -- even with results.
Regarding diet change, I'd say if it tastes good, you're doing it wrong. I'd really get ready to not enjoy food, but your life will change so much for the better.

Thanks for that,,,, she wants it bad,,,,in the beginning I didnt think she would go with me,,, most people with a bit of weight dont go to the gym with tiny people....n we walked in the place looking like Abbot and Costello... ya dont be laughin,lolol... then we just did the stupid machines,,,didnt know what the heck we were doing ,but it was working,,,then we got a guy come over and he started showing us,,throwing at us whatever,,we did it and she got excited,,, well we both did,, it was working for her and it was doing what I wanted done,,, now,,, it's got to go further... Everyone said I couldnt ever never get the flab off my arms,,,yea well HA! couple more months and it will be gone,,, so she knows the nay sayers are wrong.... Now she wants lean stomach... not a flammin 6 pack but she wants it gone nicely... she'll do it. Her hurdle is her husband....omgoodness how he eats and expects everyone else to follow is insane. I'll let ya know as time goes on.... but at the end of the day,,,you're right...its on her now....

SOOOO True, food is fuel, that is the only way you can approach it. It's been some time sine I trained, but I knew exactly what would work in my body, and how it would make me feel, the greasier the slower I moved, or sugar would run for about 20 minutes and I'd crash.
I don't miss those days in the slightest, having to eat every 45 minutes drove me nuts.
But now days, I have to get active again after 10 years of taking it too easy, 30 lbs crept up slowly and it's not going to be fun eating for fuel again.
