Last night I was listening to some classic country through my cable. A George Jones song came on.  He is one of my favorites. He had all the fame and fortune. For some reason it came to me that I am grateful for my life and that it and was not like George's as he went through multiple marriages and an alcohol challenge. As we come to the end of another year it is time to reflect on what each of us have and be grateful for it. Fame and fortune is not what it might seem. Happy New Year!

Remember the old commercial that said, "When you have your health you have just about everything."?

When you lose your health you become keenly aware of that truism.

Last January 9, 2015, I fell down the stairs in my home and broke 14 bones (including my back), and had a collapsed lung, concussion and other injuries.

Instantly I lost my health and mobility.  After days in ICU, more days in the hospital, weeks in a rehab hospital, and more rehab at home for months I can report that I am back to almost full health.  The back will likely give me some problems for life but I can live with that.

The doctors have been amazed at the extent and speed of my recovery.  I fully believe it was the hundreds of prayers which were said on my behalf.  Those prayers were answered and I fully understand the grace and mercy of God on His children.

In 2016 I will celebrate January 9.  It marked the time in my life that I was given a trial which strengthened me in many ways.  I have a renewed appreciation for my health and all it involves.

It was during my recovery and limited mobility that I came to this forum for the first time.
