Title: Glad this weekend is done
Post by: Elfie on October 11, 2010, 07:26:41 AM
Headed out on Friday.  Chili in tow and about 250 pudding shots.  Brother is here for a while he came to, friends met us there.  Got the camper set for them, slung the rest in the cabin and went to the little bar/restaurant. It's classically set between corn fields, but goodness they do have great food.  Had dinner and went home, sat around the fire for a tiny bit then off to bed.  Saturday came with blue skies and the usual action along the river.  The smell of chili was in the air all day long, lol. Everyone tweaking in their recipes, some came over to give those pudding shots a test, lol.  Ad the day went the tent went up the wood for the fire came, tables set, it was fun in the air, lol.  We had 10 entrys for the first one , we plan on doing this every year.   3 judges,,, me n my gal pal were gettin things ready to taste for them,,they had a most difficult job, lol.   Well as it went our friend won it,lol. He got the traveling trophy made by a lady there.  First prize was a bottle of crown, 2nd was a 6pk of coke, 3 a bag of glasses and 4th was a bag of ice,lol No theme there huh, lol.   Then we put all the chili into one big roaster.  Had jalepeno corn bread, regular corn bread, shredded cheddar, sour cream, 2 home made pies, brownies, some kind of white chili, (never heard of or saw that before) and a huge roaster of kielbasa/potato soup. There was other stuff to.  I started to bring out the pudding shots and pretty much spent the rest of the evening distributing them, lol.  After a while I just plain had to sit down, lol.  Then again everytime I did, lol, they would send someone over to ask for another round, lol.  Fire was rippin, happy people all the time. was good.
Sunday my friends, myself and my brother went ti Utica, Il for the Burgoo Fest.  I had never been, heard about it, but just never been.  I will go again. Burgoo is a stew that they make with everything and slow simmer for oh dang, I dont have a clue, lol. Its beef based and very good.  The whole town is pretty much taken over by it all. Vendors of all crafty and home made things. Some good some usual. I did find a wonderful wool sweater for 35$. I also found 1500 ct egyptian cotton sheets for 30$ to.  Met an author, her name is Andera Jones.  She has written a book called Hook & Jill. An adult version of Neverland. She signed it for me, had a lovely conversation with her.
Music was every where but not overlapping. All kinds of it from country to jazz, to big band, to marching band.  Wine tasting at the far end,,,,, they blocked off all of downtown, lets not get to excited it's only 2 blocks long, lol. but it had the party in the air there, one could go pub crawlin there.
And now I am home,,,,it's Monday----back to work....
Hope you guys had a good weekend...what did ya do?????
;)

Sounds like a R/C/Weekend MeLady.

Wow!  "1500 ct egyptian cotton sheets for 30$" even at 50$ + would have been a great deal.   Slow weekend for me just playing with wood in the garage and M working on a quilt. Had a bit of rain off and on so that was nice for the smell in the air.

LOL Get the King size not the Cal/King King gives you more room side by side and Cal from head to tow.
Also King sheet don't cost a much as Cal/King.  Only if your over 6' tall then think about a Cal/King.

If they made a Ca King in memory foam that would be the way I'd go, but I don't think they do.'
So it will be a reg King memory foam instead.

I can't sleep on anything else, it will spoil you, I guarantee it!~

We have a 6" on our Cal King now.  But I am looking to get and 18" next.  We have a Costco that we do shop at.   Also have memory foam in the 5th wheel.
