Title: Big News Where I Live
Post by: tbone0106 on January 05, 2011, 03:04:49 PM
I don't know about this guy. He's been all over the TV and radio news and talk shows around here today, and it seems to be doing some good for the guy. One thing the article doesn't mention is that he has a lengthy rap sheet, the most recent entry being an arrest for theft this past summer.
What say YOU?

He has an amazing speaking voice.  I read that he now has offers from NBC, I believe and the NFL...  IF he's as clean and sober as he says he is, I hope it works out for him.. One less off the rolls.
;)

If the guy doesn't have any violent offenses, like armed robbery or something, then I am good giving him a second chance.

After he starts getting some income, he should contact anyone he stole from or wronged, and ask if he can make it up to them.

I hope he can run with it and clean up his life.  Now the ball is in his court, time will tell if he can pull off the game of his life.  Would be nice if his mother could be right.

Evidently Ted Williams is being managed (at least for now) by his AA sponsor and longtime benefactor named Battle, who would toss him announcing jobs whenever he could find him.

The first Kraft ad airs this coming week, and Williams has also had some interesting offers from unlikely sources. I read an unsubstantiated note yesterday that Jack Nicholson has a film beginning production soon which requires a radio announcer in apparently a bit role. THAT sort of talk.

Dunno if it's true, but it does point to America being as willing to forget Williams' past as his new corporate pals are likely to make money by helping him. It's excellent PR for Kraft (which I buy exclusively, anyway. I will buy their particular product from the ad, to try it out.)

It's the speed of the ascent that has the serious people worried. So much in one week's time, for a guy so close to the edge.

Very true Quiller.  I just hope the guy does not go down after this.  Should that happen, it will be in media flame just as he rises.   Thats alot of pressure for someone like him.

The Ohio homeless man whose smooth broadcaster voice made him an Internet sensation was questioned by police after he and his daughter got into a heated argument at a hotel during a trip to Hollywood to appear on "Dr. Phil" and "Entertainment Tonight."

Williams left a lot of wreckage after walking away from nine kids. It's easy to imagine why the daughter got irate.

Ahhh, Dr Phil, making people feel superior while he pulls the scab off the lives of his victims.
But he does it with that Southern charm, that is usually reserved for women.

Agreed. They will destroy this newly-created sensation, just to make themselves feel good.

Not-so-good news (or maybe it is good) for Mr. Ted Williams... It's off to rehab we go!

That fat bald moron (and probable fake doctor) absolutely COULD NOT resist intervening with this guy, forcing Williams into rehab he probably does need. This elevates the intervener. It may or may not elevate the intervened.

Once the spotlight is off him, Williams still needs to regain his self-respect in order to stay straight. I saw him say he'd been sober two years, so I wonder if in his lexicon sober meant drug-free, not alcohol-free.
