It is becoming very obvious to me that our sheriffs around the country are our real heroes. They understand their constituents and are accountable to them. Unfortunately police chiefs tend to be political appointees and consequently their loyalty tends to be with politicians rather than the citizens.

Most people do not understand the power there Sheriff has in there county. I know in my county/state, police chiefs/policeman only have power granted to them by the sheriff of there county. I don't know about other states.
A sheriff is elected, a police chief is hired by a city council. There lies the problem. The sheriff severs the people not the council.

Fortunately, the people of the U.S. have been smart enough to ensure that their local Sheriff has more authority than the President does...or we would have no second amendment thanks to an Executive Order dictate by his holiness The Obama.

county. Out of his jurisdiction he is a citizen just like you and me.
