Schools Failing Since Our Founding

Not really, but this highlights the failures of education, even this far back. Think about it, our Republic was Founded of Gods Law, The law of Nature.
Not one school teaches this today... It's called Common Sense!

"A few days ago, a Master of Arts, who is still a young man, and therefore the recipient of a modern education, stated to me that until he had reached the age of twenty he had never been taught anything whatever regarding natural phenomena, or natural law. Twelve years of his life previously had been spent exclusively amongst the ancients. The case, I regret to say, is typical. Now we cannot, without prejudice to humanity, separate the present from the past." – John Tyndall (1854)

The most, imho, misunderstood quote in our history is "separation of church and state". I can not believe how many people KNOW this phrase is in the constitution or the bill of rights. And very few even know where it came from or what the author meant.

Nailed it!
That was the point being made, basic commonsense, but the basics weren't being taught even back then. To understand our Constitution, one needs to understand the basic concept of Natural Law, God's Law!

The problem lies in the fact that schools have become propaganda mills and brainwashing organizations of the leftists rather than actually teaching children as they are supposed to. Part of the issue lies in the N.E.A. and part of it lies in the leftists who ruthlessly use the schools to further their political agenda.

I agree that our education system is failing. This is obviously anecdotal evidence but for me I was not taught anywhere near as much about our Constitution or government as I should have been. I had one course in middle school and one in high school and that was it. Luckily I am quite interesting in the Founding and History more generally so I took the time and effort to go read on my own however that is not something that should have to be done. While I do not know an exact curriculum that should be taught to remedy this problem I would say at the very least start teaching the Constitution at a much younger age so that it becomes more engrained in people as they grow up. Additionally I would say that dealing much more in the British Foundations behind our system of government as well as the related history would be appropriate because one cannot get to Jefferson without understanding Coke and Locke. Even if the Constitution is not the goal of studying the British Origins it is still useful because there are several cases from that era that are still a part of the Common Law and therefor apply in our country, Semayne's case or Zenger's Case being two examples.

I agree we need to better educate our young folks as to our Constitution and founding history. The problem is our government schools are being run  by administrators, for the most part, have faculty with leftist views. They are not interested in teaching our country's proud history. I was fortunate enough to have attended government schools that were run by patriots.

Very well said young man!   I had it for 4 year back in my day.   School felt it was very important back in my days of school.   But that was back over 90 years ago.

Kids used to get out of high school with a better education than they get coming out of college now. Too many today can not even give change back.

Yep, my mom only finished 8th grade, but smart as a whip, never made a single grammar mistake, math was perfect, knew her American history.
None of these kids today could hold a candle to the depression era folk.

I would say that as a population that realizes that it is a problem we need to do our best to supplement, and as will usually be the case correct, what is being taught to people in order to ensure that this does not continue to go in the wrong direction.

Additionally one of the things I could also see being an issue is that it is a self perpetuating cycle in that core topics are taught less which means that future teachers view them as less important which causes them to put even less emphasis on them when they teach. So and and so forth until people don't even care to cover them. With that being said if we can even just slightly emphasize them more I think it could start a positive trend.

Like Grammar? Yeah, I think the risk is absolutely necessary. All we need to do is get rid of social studies and return to geography.
Kids are being taught that the US is inherently evil, and that communist cultures are simply misunderstood.

I don't know the age of most of you, but education began to decline when we established the cabinet position in 1969. By so doing it made it easier for those who wanted to subvert our system. We quickly went from 2nd math to high twenties, and third to 32 among 50 industrialized countries.  However worse than that, after 1992 when
GHW Bush signed a UN agreement to introduce into all US departments the policies of what was called Agenda 21. Clinton was the first president to institute into our government and no one has said anything about it since.  If you look at the education section, it states clearly  that programs would introduced to weaken our system, to instill world government and cultural changes to develop subservience in American People to follow world government and not individuals and our own national existence.
This is where climate change was fully adopted as well.
Solution, cut all finding of the Education department and dissolve it. Make it much more difficult for the left to go to fifty states rather than one source. Give it back to  the people in their local jurisdictions. You will get rid of the left programs of "No child left behind" and Common Core. Get rid of all texts books printed today from major presses which are controlled by the left through the NEA.

The United States hasn't "fallen", it's been taken down by Communist infiltrators posing as "teachers" and "administrators". In virtually EVERY part of our society, Commies have infiltrated, taken over, subdivided, multiplied, indoctrinated and brainwashed people to the Commie way. Oh they throw buzz words around like "freedom", "liberty", "rights", "Constitution", etc., etc., etc. but, then find ways around the very things that they claim to adhere to. The fraudulent election is an example as is the Chinese virus. "Never let a crisis go to waste" is the Communist mantra".

Truth is, it all started with the RINO in the GOP back in the 60s. Had we had Reps that actually cared about the Constitution, none of this would be going on today.
