I was going to respond to Yawn in the other thread but figured I would do it as its own topic. 

We started using the Shelf Reliance products about a year ago and we now have a nice little "home store" here on the mountain.  There is a real convenience to having these products.  Some we really like and others just don't make the cut. We stick to the freeze dried products and not the dehydrated ones as they seem to have a better texture overall.

I can say since we started using Shelf Reliance our grocery bill has in effect gone down.  I have a lot less wasted food as in most cases I can rehydrate only what we need. I use to make a Sam's club run every 10 days or so mainly to buy 10-12 gallons of  milk - Solar drinks about a gallon a day.  This would take up almost 1/3 of our refrigerator space and sometimes we would lose a couple of gallons before we could get through it all.  With the Shelf Reliance Instant Milk I can make milk a couple gallons at a time and save valuable refrigerator space for other things.  This alone was really worth it for me.   Also going to the store less I am less tempted to buy stuff I didn't intend to. 

I have experimented with several of the items and love the yogurt bites, chopped chicken, potato beads, and am experimenting with several other of the items.  I even put together a soup in a jar mix for a friend.   There is still lots of things I want to try and they keep adding more things everyday.  On my last order I finally broke down and ordered the chocolate chip ice cream bars...

I can vouch for everything she said, the vegetables are just like fresh picked, fresher than the grocery store, especially since they buy straight from the grower and freeze it immediately.

My only suggestion is, that when you make dishes for a meal, let them sit overnight, they get a chance to return to their original texture and the full flavor is allowed to breathe.

But I guarantee you, if you make a stew or casserole, you couldn't tell the difference if you had picked out the freshest of ingredients and cooked another along side.

But the best part, it actually costs less in most cases, and where it doesn't, it only amounts to pennies..

This isn't your moms dehydrated milk/food, this is today's food.

I just blame it on Toy's gravity hole she claims is the reason she keeps falling down.
So when stuff like this disappears, I just blame her gravity hole, she has to agree, or admit the hole doesn't exist, and that she's just a klutz.
