There is a Tropical Storm called Sandy brewing south of Jamaica. It is 4mph below the the threshold of being a hurricane. It is projected to cross Cuba and proceed parallel to the East Coast Northeastward. Among the scenarios projected for the future, a number have it possibly taking a left turn into the mid Atlantic or north of there. Impact would be early to mid week. Make sure you're ready.

Side note, I as a young child lived through a unnamed hurricane in 1951(I think) that did just that and slammed into Atlantic City, NJ. We lived on Brigantine Island at the time. There was only a wooden bridge connecting us to the main land and it burned down during the storm. We as children watched as the bay and ocean met on the street in front of the house.

Dad loaded us, the neighbor woman and her children in the car and we went to the high point on the island to wait out the storm. A number of people lost their lives including duck hunters and people on a large sail boat driven up on shore. There was no warning. Atlantic City suffered extensive damage.

See link below for projected paths:

I've been watching that to.... Looks like it could get down right ugly for a lot if that tracks as predicted....

More and more it looks like Sandy will come inshore between Delaware and New York City. It is projected to bring up to 10" of rain and three days of tropical storm force winds. That's a recipe for flooding and loss of power. Question is for how long.

Be Safe.

Thank's  PP  We on the West Coast don't get T/S like the East Coast.   Batten down the hatches and check for light seepage.

Well I've talked to all the family on the east coast,,,they seem to be ok and ready...Lord I hope so....racing buddies are set and ready, all of which are in the direct path zone....   We should be able to see what will happen to the masses in general with this beast.....

Will you get some fall out of the rain or snow?  It is a wide path and inland this year.

local news and NWS has said mostly big wind and the lake shore will have flooding alerts as the waves will be 15 to 20' high.... not so much rains.  From Gary to Michigan City will get the worst.

After all the preparation we came through without a scratch. Lights flickered once. Mainline phone acted up mid afternoon but returned to full service shortly thereafter. Looks like New Jersey, New York, Connecticut and Rhode Island took the brunt of damage. Best Wishes to them for a speedy recovery.
