Does anybody have experience with this? Can any mechanic do this? I know next to nothing about it, but I've been thinking for quite awhile about converting a car to use both natural gas and gasoline. There are filling stations in my area for natural gas. I've been wondering what it might cost for the conversion and who might be able to do it.

Funny you should ask, I follow the latest tech on stuff like this.
The upside, cheap fuel, the downside, 12 grand + to convert, also keep in mind, it won't be long before the utility would be forced to tax you highway tax, or you would be forced to show mileage to the state yearly for your tax bill.
Regardless, the state and Fed wants their share of the highway tax.
Here's a good article for starters. I think the compressor and fuel tank are the bigger costs of the system.

Not methane, but still natural gas and cheap...

Damn that's an eye-opener! Might as well save my pennies and get that Volt. All I want to do is stop paying $4 a gallon! Damn Obama economy! It's all Obama's fault!

Yes it is, and all planned.
I looked into converting Toy's brand new Forester, it literally would be a break even in her case, I was ready to do it, but she like the car the way it is, and doesn't want to lose the storage room.
