I think the one thing you take away from the movie, is simply be prepared, so you don't have to sit in long lines, only to have them run out of gas or food, or whatever it was you are wasting time doing.
I can't think of one thing we would need if this were to happen, were ready, could be better prepared like everyone else, but we would manage none the less.
Thanks to ST and her vigilance.

I agree that the ending was anticlimatic, and in this case added to the movie. The devil is in the details.

Yeah, the one thing it showed, is no matter what happens, it will take sometime before we see positive results.
Sadly TV crime shows make it look like most things can be solved within a week, but reality takes far longer.

This points out our vulnerabilities, I hadn't been off the mountain for months, till ST needed an operation, so it was up to me to head down to the valley and get supplies, took about 3 hours.
In that short time I was exposed to a horrible chest cold, one I suspect was airborne, considering how aware I am of not touching my face and keeping my hands clean.
I'm almost certain I inhaled this bug.

When I was in Japan in the early 70s, I was struck by the amount of people that wore surgical masks, I inquired as to why they were wearing masks, the lady next to me wearing a mask said it was the polite thing to do when you were sick.
If only our society would adopt such politeness.
When I went to the city Wednesday, people always like to shake hands, I instantly informed them I had a bad cold, and to wash immediately, its the least I can do.

I know what your both saying.   My grandson came over for a week for spring break with a head cold.   I got it then my wife did.  We have not had a head cold in ten years and it nailed us big time at our age.

Sorry to hear of the head colds. Keep them on the west coast if you will.

Regarding the movie, what struck me was the portrayal of a reluctance of officials to acknowledge the severity of the problem till it got out of hand. Felt the finding of the antidote was portrayed as unrealistically. The last scenes of the unfaithful wife and cook as victims #2 and #1 respectfully was interesting.

The realization of the potential problems with food and other infected people contaminating your sources should be eye opening to anyone not prepared.

I found the ending interesting.  I am sorry to say I don't remember the cook dying - just the waiter.  The panic and the looting by those looking for food etc was interesting.  I also don't think things would bounce back as quickly as they made it seem.
