My God, can you imagine? This is just trinkets compared to life sustenance, though to some of these idiots, you'd think they will die if they can't have a pair.

The upside, its the city, let the idiots kill each other off.

Local grocery chain is closing one of its stores. Offered the entire store at 50% discount. On the second day the store looked like someone used a  large vacuum. Spent $260 myself. After consolidating outside storage back inside due to below freezing conditions, running out of storage space in the house. Also concerned that in a bug out situation we'd have problems with it being just my wife and I.

That is happening in ca as well, a Raley's store is closing after a short time in business, the city is a virtual ghost town.
The area was a booming community of roughly 500 thousand people and now its down to 15% of that.
Raley's is an old chain, the original store opened during the gold rush in my area, so its not like they were a small operation.
They too cleared the isles with reduced prices.

Get a seal a meal and seal all the food you can, we did and its been a blessing.

We got one also about 2.5 years ago.  I have thing come out of the freezer after 1.5 years just like coming from the meat market.  We got the FoodSaver, I do everything with it.

ST had to clean out the freezer the other day and found all kinds of goodies we forgot about and they were just like the day we bought them.

I am glad to see some take this seriously.  I fear we are going to see a serious ramp up this year.  I listen carefully to Soros as he is behind a lot of this mess and has 5 currencies under his belt he has managed to collapse.  We are the big dog, the prize of all prizes for him and he has been at it now for some time and I suspect he wants this to happen soon.  Being 81 does not give him much time to see this through unless he steps it up.  Here is a link to his threats of what is coming.  Take it seriously and ramp up your preparations.

I just walked into the kitchen and looked, its the V3825 also, ST was going off of memory.
I should have known better. :))

That thing works fast and thats a good thing, because when you have a lot of meat to seal, it would take hours with some of the other brands.

I take it all with measured skepticism, there are way more factors at play when it comes to collapsing the dollar.
It would take the entire world giving a concerted movement to find another currency to endorse when trading.
They tried it with the Euro and look how well that turned out.

I think Soros would love nothing more than to collapse our currency, but were bigger than one mans wet-dream.
But with that said, if we don't pull the economy back soon, the world will start losing faith in the dollar and move to bartering in gold and other precious metals and resources with each other, just like we did 200 hundred years ago.
I believe if we do fail, it will be a slow descent  then a sudden collapse, kind of like bending spaghetti, at some point it just snaps, but I believe the rest of the world will be in much worse shape by that time, I would watch for other economies to fail first.
Once India and some Asian economies begin to collapse, then we are closer to failure.

Just my opinion, but I think we still have a bit of time to pull out, but I'm still storing food just in case I'm wrong

You can't go wrong preparing.  Soros has a reliable history of collapsing 5 different currencies to include the British sterling.  It's best we don't take lightly this man's willingness to see this transpire.  His estimated worth is around 30 billion and not one dime was anything he was selling.  It was made on the backs of the innocent who suffered through his plan of destroying.  The web he has spun here in the US goes very deep.  Take time out some day and google all of his organizations.  It will shock you.  Look, I hope you are right and I am wrong but if the Euro collapses then buckle up because we will not escape the ripple effect of the Euro's fate.  Every bit of news I am reading has pretty much stated we aill be in for a rough ride at best.

True, I have read about his connections to the commie movement and its direct connection to virtually every lib site on the web including the Dim party.
Why he is even allowed to play in the mkt is beyond me.

I don't see good things ahead, but I don't think its on the fast track like many pundits using scare tactics, many are in it for their own greedy purpose, (follow the money).
But with that said, it is only going to get worse before it gets better, how bad it gets is up to us, if someone isn't prepared, it will be Hell, but for those of us that have prepared, it will just be a really rough ride.

We still have to get more food stocked away, a lot more, I want at least two years of staples.
Fuel, we have more than a years supply, of course electricity is not an issue being totally on solar.
I think we may have to get some cattle and chickens soon and that would round things out.
I drink a gallon of milk a day and would suffer badly without it.
Seriously, that is really my one Achilles weak point, milk, its my staple...

I think we have a bit of time yet, but that time should be spent wisely stocking up since prices are only going to increase along with inflation.
I know you were able to buy a bunch of freeze dried food, that was smart, the price has since gone up nearly 30% on some items, I missed the boat on that one. Dammit!

I have 9 months worth of food, 110 gallons of water, plenty of ammo, filters for water and seeds for growing.  I don't have the ability for chickens, cattle or other type meats.  That's going to be a challenge I believe.

If you have a place for it, pick up a poly tank for water storage (around $200.00) a 300+ gallon tank has a foot print of about 3' by 4' and weighs a few hundred pounds, just treat with a few drops of chlorine every few months to keep it fresh.
I have a 2500 gal tank that I fill with a solar pump.

One of the things people forget is, if a crisis does hit, the city water supply could simply fail, leaving many with nothing.
If the power fails, the water department is also dependent upon power and without pumps, it wouldn't be long before the pressure drops to zero.
A water bed is also a great back up supply, so keeping one in a guest bedroom is always a good way to back up your water supply.

I have lived on three and a half gallons a day in the past for about three years.
That included showers and washing dishes, wasn't easy, but I had to carry 5 gallons up the mountain at a time, every other day, so I did my best to ration.
Without shower and dishes, a gallon a day was more than enough.
Also baby wipes are a God send when trying to ration water, heat in the microwave, or if power is an issue, put in sealed bag and throw them in hot water a few minutes and you have a warm wipe down.

When it comes to water don't forget that you have 35 - 85 gallons in your hot water heater. On top of that I stock 50 gallons. I decided to keep that indoors so that we don't need to go outside for some of the senarios that have been fielded. My biggest failure is to stock flour and beans. I plan on working on that.

Good points and there is always the tank on the toilet that can keep you alive for a couple of weeks.
You may want to drain your hot water tank occasionally, I remember draining mine years ago and got a ton of rust out of the bottom, granted it was an old tank, but it was red water for about 10 minutes before it cleared, that was with the water shut off and just draining it.

I tried it once, used both Pine and Doug fir, both were about the same, bitter, but a bit of honey really improves the taste.
I'd avoid Cedar and any form of juniper, to acidic and I'm not certain, but since the Yew tree is poisonous and is from the Juniper family, I'd avoid any Cedar just to be safe.

Let me know what you think, like I say, once was enough for me, but maybe she knows how to prepare it correctly, I probably did it wrong.

It wasn't only the pine needle tea. I had never heard of eating the inner bark of the white pine. How you need to split the inner bark. I have five white pines I planted about 20 years ago that will work. It was also how to dig a more efficient fire pit. Discussion on how long to heat water for purification.

That led to me reading Solar's post on steam distilling water. My only concern with that is fuel source for sustained or repetitive burns. All in all a very informative number of posts.

Himself and I were speaking of the economy a couple of weeks ago... We talked of what we would be doing and Lord knows what else. He looked at me and said you're going to can and put up this year right? I said yep I was,,, BaSICALLY because mine is exhausted from use and what not... I'm not worried about water "if" we stay here... I know where a natural spring is and the only thing that would stop that is major flood as it will be under water,,,the tap I mean. We dont require special meds, so I dont have to deal with that... We have non power tools,,, so we dont have to worry about building anything without power...  Candles are important as I dont have a bee hive.... my cookware is steel or cast iron... all parts of it... some bamboo and wooden spoons to.  So I'll get bins for critter food and lots of dryer sheets to help keep mice out of it...yes they work...
People all over the place are either jumpin on that new shows band wagon or people have figured out we are walking into a real rough time.....
Actually I do believe that we can get thru what ever is coming at us.... I think something is...what thatw ill be,, heaven only knows I just sense ugly.

Its a 9300 series shurflo slow pump, runs at 12v or 24v DC, direct connect to solar panels, with a linear current booster so it starts sooner in the morning.

Best investment in the world is ammo. Great barter and recover capability. If we actually have a collapse, frozen food will eventually be lost. Ammo will allow you to get most anything you want!

When the cities empty out the hordes will need to be dealt with, again ammo comes in quite nicely.

The feral already out number us, watch the news, riots over shoes, shirts and places in line? The feral have been taught they are owed.

I would never part with my ammo, under any circumstances.
Bartering with ammo is informing the enemy of your defenses, the less they know, the more apt they are to keep a distance.

Though, I would lead them to believe that I'm willing to part with a dozen grenades and a half dozen mines, for a working WWII era tank.
Better to keep them guessing....

They are trying to pass a law that would require some form of finger print such as a bar code.
But have failed to date, but as usual, they will not stop, ever.
