Title: Why is the US open being played on a pitch and putt course?
Post by: ldub23 on June 15, 2019, 08:33:34 AM
I thought  the  US open was supposed to be a  tourney  where even par was a good  score. Maybe  its such a  tiny course to keep Tiger in contention.

Hmm...  If so then it would also help all the others also.  I know the LSM is pushing him big time.  But I don't see the US open doing something for one person being he white, black, red or even pink.

Maybe, but the  PGA was on a long course and Tiger didnt make the cut because he cant hit driver straight. They desperately want him around on the weekend for ratings. Not even considering tiger why is the  course so easy?

LOL ask the PGA.  It's been 80 years the last time I play Golf.

The USGA is in control this week. Its sad when the announcers have to try their  best to make the  course  sound  hard.

You know the  course  is a joke when Phil can reach a  joke  par  5 with 2 iron shots.

Tiger's heading into day 4 even.  The course isn't a walk in the park.

I've never played an "Easy" course, they don't exist because no one wants to play a sport that doesn't challenge you.
Every course I ever played had it's nasty shots, be it over water, or a "U" freakin turn on the 9th hole, they all had obstacles everyone had to over come.
I love the game, but I hate courses that have a driving range lined by expensive houses that seem to have a magnetic effect on golf balls, especially car windows.

Anyone who plays golf understands Pebble Beach is a difficult track. The setup for the US Open appears to be fair and a stern test. The fairways are narrow and the rough is tough. It is OK for the leaders to around 10 under because, THESE GUYS ARE GOOD!

Cant agree. Difficult would be  like the PGA last  month where  only a  handfull of  players were under  par. US opens used to be hard. This is a "chicken stick" course where  on almost every  par4 you  can hit  an iron off the tee. I know  Nickalaus was saying a while  back they need to alter the  balls to keep scores from getting too low. I disagree. From keeping  players from playing  it  safe on tiny  par 4's simply narrow the fairways where layups  off the tee would  land.

Reward boldness and penalize timidity.

I dont see how anyone can call this a tough test  of  golf with a tiny course being demolished. A us  open with 3 players in triple digits  under  par  is a  joke.

The ocean winds... the terrain....  Nike stock would rise from the Pro V1 boxes I'd go through...

Do you play golf? Gary Woodland is hardly a nobody.

He's clearly never played with someone at that level.

Oh God, I have, it's as if the ball knows where it's supposed to go. The beauty of the game is not the competition amongst the players, but with yourself, golfers never rub it in your face when they make a hole and you don't.
We all have bad days on the course, some more than others, but it's not about winning, it's about the game, you and the comradery.
