Major League Baseball's Cleveland Indians have decided to change their franchise name, citing liberal and politically correct objections to their longtime moniker. The New York Times reported that the team resolved to change its name Sunday, citing three sources within the organization.
The franchise is set to announce its decision to change its name this week, and will play under the Indians name in 2021 while preparing for a name change in 2022. It's unclear what the Indians' new name will be.
The Indians have gone by the name since the year 1915, and are poised to do away with a name that is almost as old as the American tradition of professional baseball itself. The name change comes less than a year after the former Washington Redskins changed their name to the "Washington Football Team," replacing a historic franchise name with a neutered and gray replacement.

My ATL Braves have announced they are not considering changing names. They have been ahead of the curve on this and working with the eastern band of Cherokee nation. The Cherokee's are with them. :thumbup:
This makes my point, that naming after warriors who fought bravely, is a badge of honor of those serving under the name.
You may have noticed there's a pattern in U.S. Army helicopter names – Apache, Black Hawk, Chinook and others. These crucial aircraft are all named after Native American tribes or figures.
But have you ever wondered why?
The U.S. military has a long history with Native Americans. Armed conflicts between the two were commonly known as the American Indian Wars and were fought intermittently from the time the U.S. was first settled by Europeans to early in the 20th century. But Native Americans also served as some of the fiercest fighters for the United States for more than 200 years. In fact, 32 Native Americans have earned the nation's highest military award, the Medal of Honor.
The tradition of naming helicopters after Native Americans was once an official regulation. That regulation no longer stands, but the tradition continues.
The Army's helicopters have a number of names you'll recognize immediately:
