Title: First 3D printer goes into space this week
Post by: quiller on September 16, 2014, 08:46:07 AM
The future of space exploration depends in large part on where we get raw materials for in-space manufacturing and assembly. The first company to test 3D printing in space is MIS --- the Made in Space Company --- which has a super-slick web site explaining what they hope to accomplish once their printer reaches outer space this week.

This is an interesting idea assuming the quality of what they make will be exceptionally high. Lives are potentially at stake and I'm not sure if I would trust my life to something made by a 3d printer.

I wonder if the US will still try to tax the manufacturers in space.
