A massive earthquake has struck Ishikawa Prefecture, central Japan. A tsunami warning has been issued for Niigata, Toyama, Ishikawa prefectures of the Japan Sea side of the country. People in these area must evacuate immediately.
QuotePeople in the area were told to seek higher ground in anticipation of the wavss that they estimate might be up to 17 feet tall, according to the broadcaster from NHK TV.

QuoteAccording to Reuters, officials later downgraded the major tsunami warning, but they warned that the waves could still reach up to ten feet. That had been the first such major warning since the March 2011 tsunami that wreaked so much havoc in the country.

Russia also announced tsunami warnings for its cities of Vladivostok and Nakhodka.

The total extent of the damage isn't clear yet, and officials are assessing the situation, a government spokesperson said,

Roads buckled, some houses and buildings were destroyed. There were at least 30 buildings that collapsed in Wajima. More than 36,000 are also now without power in the affected areas in Ishikawa and Toyama prefectures. Internet and phone was also disrupted, and the bullet train and planes into the area were suspended.

Mankind is here only at the whim of nature, not the other way around. Liberals need to learn this. We can not control the weather any more than we can stop a wave.

I saw some videos when I got up this morn late. That was one nasty shaker.
I'm so glad that the Japanese have built accordingly, to protect people.
I pray for Japan/

Unlike San Fran, where the ground literally liquifies and the city sinks.

I always check this page a few times a day to see if I have ocean front property yet.

I can not imagine the experience of going thorough one.

Can not find any updates on the expected tsunami.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you.  Toy gave me a nasty bug she picked up flying back from Az, so I'm sleeping more than I want to.
