Just and aside The DC National Guard is TRADITIONALLY and Routinely deployed during MAJOR demonstrations in DC including the inaugurals. They do just that, take over traffic control duties to free up POLICE OFFICERS for security. They also set up Medical tents for first aide and a Mess tent to serve all Emergency Service personnel during the long days. They are unarmed and have NO enforcement authority.
