Flip that cow patty over, why should you hate them? By the way, who is saying you should "love" them? Just because people say to support them, fund them so they can do their job, respect them, treat them like a fellow human being, obey the laws, how do you transfer that into "you should love them?
There is a fine line between a cop and a criminal. I protect myself.

No I get it. We are still using a form of law enforcement with roots back into old europe. Its like the three branches of govt. The founders gave us radically different forms of legislature and executive, but the judicial branch was much like that of the europe they were escaping from. Likewise our policing is out of date and not in line with a free country like america. ALOT of changes can be made to make it much better.

Discussions work out better when you answer questions. If you don't want to, why are you posting?

That's the point! They set up arbitrary rules, then make the sheriff enforce them.
Yes, they'll go to court over it, County gets slapped with a fine and told to never do it again, rinse repeat.
Watch for a recall on the sheriff for this BS.
Penzone was the DNC replacement for sheriff Arpio.
Need I say more?

Electing police chiefs like sheriffs instead of appointing them is one big change that can be made for the better. I think alot of LE should be elected. Along with the ability of the elected official to hire and fire at will all the unelected officials.

Theres some truth to that. Some of the same attributes that draw a person to be a cop can also draw them to be a criminal. Plus cops have a greater connection, through their job, to criminal elements and so can be more exposed to temptations most people wouldnt be. Also in the cities the mafia has been buying off cops and pols since the beginning of time.

Totally agree on law endorsement elections. I have never served as a policeman, wanted to but was way to colorblind. How do you feel about the police unions? In my younger days, I was against any public employee being a part of a union. Looking at how policemen are treated today, I have changed my mind. Too much wants to get rid of them.

Unions are controlled by the same faction that brought them into power. They are a lose lose proposition.
The cops sure look better when social workers are sent out when someone is trying to kill you.

I have a big problem with unions because they fly in the face of capitalist competition. Unions are a monopoly on labor. If unions were to break up and actually compete with each other, like the guilds of old, and try to offer the best labor at the most competitive price, then they would work and fit right into capitalism.
