Title: Will Husseincare Make Criminals Out of The Poor?
Post by: Solar on March 28, 2012, 06:12:51 PM
I haven't heard this addressed yet.
If people can't afford HC and the gov fines them because they aren't paying into it, how will they pay off the fine, jail time, debtors prison?

Their whole argument is if everyone is paying in, then everyone gets care, but it will be no different than it is now, many use emergency rooms and never pay.
That is not going to change, they still won't be paying into the pool.

You don't think the $2500 "fine" is going to apply to everyone, evenly do you?

I do not think the way b o is going.   There will be room for all of us in debtors prison.  Just look at all the people that owe taxes, that not in jail yet.

Oh, I know exactly what they will do, I just haven't heard it addressed yet, but I have a feeling Scallia is going to broach the topic and make someone look really stupid.

The answer to the Subject line is no.  This was discussed in court.  There is a transcript of that discussion here:

Its pretty long, so I won't quote it, but the basic idea is that the penalty is tied to income.  "The poor" who do not meet the income requirement will not be subject to the penalty.  They also will not be required to sign up for Medicaid, and thus, will be able to continue getting emergency care without insurance and continue not paying their bills.

Thanks West, that is what I was looking for.
It blows their claim that this will be paid by everyone, in turn lessening the burden on those that do pay for insurance.
Instead we will all be forced to pay for insurance as well as foot the bill for those that don't want to be productive members of society.
The whole thing is simply a power grab, but your average lib is clueless as to what is in store.

So maybe I should change the title to Husseincare will make criminals out of those that fall through the cracks.

There is a federal law now that says anyone who needs treatment can go to the hospital emergency room and get treatment whether they can pay or not.

Wonder what Obozo would do to that?

I can vouch for that! I my work I visit at least 3 local hospitals a day. In the emergency room of each and every hospital I've ever been to is a big sign (written in English and Espanol!) "It is the Law" and then it goes on to say how everyone will be attended to medically regardless of their ability to pay.

This law has been around for quite some time, although it would be nice to pin this on Obama too, for once, it is not his fault.
