Warren Buffett's Burlington Northern Santa Fe LLC is among U.S. and Canadian railroads that stand to benefit from the Obama administration's decision to reject TransCanada Corp. (TRP)'s Keystone XL oil pipeline permit.
With modest expansion, railroads can handle all new oil produced in western Canada through 2030, according to an analysis of the Keystone proposal by the U.S. State Department.
"Whatever people bring to us, we're ready to haul," Krista York-Wooley, a spokeswoman for Burlington Northern, a unit of Buffett's Omaha, Nebraska-based Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (BRK/A), said in an interview. If Keystone XL "doesn't happen, we're here to haul."
The State Department denied TransCanada a permit on Jan. 18, saying there was not enough time to study the proposal by Feb. 21, a deadline Congress imposed on President Barack Obama. Calgary-based TransCanada has said it intends to re-apply with a route that avoids an environmentally sensitive region of Nebraska, something the Obama administration encouraged.

Not very well informed are you guys.
The pipeline "deal" was ended due to a time limit on the contract that did not allow the US to examine all the potential impacts of the pipeline.
Obama did not "kill" squat! If anyone killed it, it was YOUR GOP.
GOP FORCED 60 day time limit on the deal.
Total political posturing on the side of the GOP.
Obama wanted to keep the deal OPEN until 2013 but the GOP said NO!
The party of NO! Working hard for Americans!
AND you do realize that this pipeline ALREADY goes to Kansas and Oklahoma!
Phase one and 2 are online.
So your "theory" about the northern railroads benefiting is pure bull excrement.
You guys ever look things up, or just listen to Rush and Beck all day.
Texas is the place that will benefit from the pipeline.

Do you always speak in half-truths? Obama originally shelved the project until 2013 (how convenient with an election in 2012, eh)?..In December Republicans attached a reconsideration of the pipeline onto the payroll tax cut forcing Obama to decide in 60 days. Obama didn't get the pass he wanted...he had to decide between nixing jobs or the wishes of leftist environmento-nuts....Well, we know who he considers the bigger voting block, don't we?

Makes one wonder if he is really all that gullible, or just spinning for the leftists...

I heard the Mother Jones DC correspondent saying almost exactly this line of reasoning on MSNBC yesterday. Hmmm. Convenient. We have a good little parrot.
Funny how he calls us the party of no when his president is the one who nixed the job creator. Maybe it didn't create enough union jobs that would generate sufficient DNC kickbacks. Just a theory.

As downhill as things are for his camp, I doubt it's reached the point where he himself has to post in order to sell his platform.
Besides, if it was him he'd begin every post with "let me be clear". :))

So far he's just been a drive-by poster like most libs, they can't actually back up what they say with hard facts, much like the opinion piece link he posted.
When you can actually understand the hard numbers, like we do here, you can only scratch your head in disbelief that someone actually believed that shit.
Let me explain it to him with this analogy.
Bush kept the swimming pool (total jobs numbers) Full for his entire term, then Hussein comes along and drains the pool.
Then quickly refills it Gov subsidized jobs, and gives the appearance that he is growing the economy.
Yet this lib can't see that.
All those jobs are temporary and grew the debt and when funding runs out, it will be more than simply a loss in net jobs, but a total deficit in money lost, or rather thrown away with nothing to show for it.
I hope he sticks around for some honest debate, that is if he's willing to be honest...

So how many of you actually knew the pipeline already goes to Kansas and then on to Oklahoma already??
Not too many. since no one mentioned it!
This only effects the narrow path to Texas. Nothing up north as you like to whine about.
couple thousand jobs over several years. Oil company that gets to get away with destroying the environment!
They could have waited a month. big deal.
GOP have gone a year without creating ONE job!
Canada IS going to SELL to the Chinese regardless of what happens here.
They need to diversify their exports since they ship almost ALL their oil HERE!

News flash...
It's not the Gov responsibility to create work, never has been and never should be!

I'm asking yet again, you need to source your claims. Please prove the GOP hosed the pipeline.

Ever see that Papa John's Pizza commercial. The one where Peyton Manning says "a man's gotta work"?
Maybe those 247,000 "new jobs" in the "private sector" consist of all the trolls the DNC is paying to have hang around every conservative web site. Or maybe they're just stupid enough to volunteer for the job.

WHAT does your response have to do with my post!
WHO said anything about it being the governments responsibility to make jobs?
Look at the title of this thread.
That's what I am responding to.
Talk about jumping around there Solar.
None of you knew the pipeline already existed did you!
sad how you guys post without research.

Yet again, you say.
You do know that this is your first post in this thread, SO chill.
Unless you are putting a link to everything you spew as fact then....
See I assume you guys actually READ as opposed to only listen to Rush and beck, who make stuff up constantly.
QuoteRepublicans attached a measure setting a deadline for a decision on the pipeline to last year's payroll tax cut bill, but President Barack Obama last month rejected the pipeline permit in response, forcing TransCanada to resubmit its application.
The Obama administration said it needs more time to consider alternative routes for the project after concerns were raised the pipeline could harm a sensitive aquifer in Nebraska.
Environmentalists have staunchly opposed the project, saying that carbon-spewing oil sands production in Canada will exacerbate climate change.

now shall I will explain it for you?
The GOP forced the administrations hand.
Had they not forced it by making IT LAW, then the process would still be going on.
BUT
because the GOP forced it into the payroll bill, then it is dead due to GOP involvement!
AND this bit about "energy security"
give me a break.
Texas oil refineries were just salivating at the thought of all that crude. THAT'S who is pushing the GOP. BIG OIL!

Does that answer your question?
Now pay attention, the gov is not supposed to create work, that is what socialist economies do.
We are a Capitalist Nation, the free mkt creates jobs!Got It?
