What is a shout box exactly?

Thanks for the welcome.  This board looks like it will be both fun and informative.  Glad I stumbled upon it.

Shout Box~

When you come to the forum, if you are a visitor or a member, you may type a sentence in the box without having to Log in. Everyone can speak in the shout box and use the smileys. Shout boxes are a lot of fun bc the convo there is generally shallow. I am not a computer guru who can tell you more in depth about a Shout Box, but I am sure it would really add to your forum. You all appear to be fun folks and a Shout Box would really be a fun addition. You all would love it.
