Title: We need feedback on our news site
Post by: taxed on February 26, 2020, 02:14:56 PM
Our news site is starting to grow, and we'd like to get some feedback before we make the next round of changes.

The site: https://news.conservativehardliner.com

1 - What do you not like about it?

2 - Is there anything annoying about it that prevents you from wanting to visit? (Note to libs: facts that counter your lies don't count)

3 - What's your opinion of the stories in contrast to the standard main stream stuff?

4 - What could we change that would make you visit it more or pull more news stories?

5 - What's your opinion of the layout?  How would you change it or make it better?

6 - Do you visit any aggregators?  What are they?

7 - What else should we know or consider?

In exchange for your feedback, Bert will give you two free lap-dances, redeemable for 60 days.

I have a question and, it's not about the lap dances. Who is the news site targeting?

Thinking people. Mostly Conservatives. What I love doing is taking leftist headlines and exposing the article for the truth by rewriting the headline to actually fit the article.
Libs are notorious headline readers, seldom once looking deeper into what an article says. So I take the real meaning hidden in the article and post it accordingly.
Unlike them, I don't lie, I post the crux of what is actually being said.

Case in point. "Panasonic to exit solar production at Tesla's New York plant as partnership frays"
My headline is more on target....

"Panasonic Dumps Tesla, Totally Unprofitable"

What Taxed has done is ignored all the leftist sites and target Conservatives, so the aggregator only posts their stories..
It is new and refreshing, unlike any out there.
Pretty much a return to the 50s when papers actually posted news...

I think readers who are looking for a little more of a news dig.  People that are a little more thirsty for Spygate/Obama/Hillary scandals/deep-state related news, local corruption and busts, jobs and economic data that's more relevant than the Dow, and human trafficking/pedo takedowns.

Readers that want more digs into topics like Spygate.  For example, I'll post a Twitter thread from Techno Fog, who digs into the specifics of the big cases, like Flynn.  Or, Jeff Carlson articles, and other Twitter accounts who may not have sites (Carlson does), but they're stocked with incredible information that is simply not reported main-stream digital (Breitbart, Daily Caller, etc).  We'll post stories from there, but we post more independent diggers.

Breaking news items from real-time intel and news agencies.  If something breaks out in, say, Syria, we'll post Tweets from operators on the ground.

So, I guess we'd like to bring in more casual news readers, but I think we're appealing more to readers who are a little more thirsty for below-the-surface information.

Does that make sense?

The fonts could be a little bigger, as it is hard for my old eyes to see. Other wise looks good.

You can make the font(s) bigger by holding down the CTRL key and  hit the + key.  Each time you hit the + key the font will get bigger.  Or hit the - key when holding down the CTRL key and make the font smaller.  You can use this for most anything that in print.

  A little spacing between the lines might help. or create sections, ex. Trump section, job section, medical.  I like what is picked to put on there.

I agree, spacing would help.

I also neglected to mention, I hand pick articles worldwide from sources most would never see, many in Asia, India, Russian, and a bunch from the M/E, Africa etc....
But what all these sources do, is to help people put together information and come to real conclusions. Reason being, not every country/culture has the same take on any given subject, but by posting differing sources for the same story, you, the reader are better able to discern the truth.
Or, if they're all lying, you'll figure that out as well.

Most people searching for breaking news don't want clutter, pictures and ads, they want a quick skim to see what's happening in the world.
However, you do raise an interesting option, a secondary site with all the pictures and bright colors, all with the same info.

I agree with the other poasters in that the main page could use a face lift. I didn't get into any article content though.

Don't look right. Everything is forced to the left and the font is paper thin.

Thank you it looks good now and with the spacing is even better.

Yes I know I can use ctrl and my mouse wheel to make font bigger, but its a pain when you go to other sites.
