President Trump has revoked the security clearance for former CIA director John Brennan, the White House announced Wednesday, in the first decision to come from a review of access for several top Obama-era intelligence and law enforcement officials.
White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders read a statement on behalf of the president during the start of the press briefing, saying Brennan "has a history that calls his credibility into question."
The statement also said that Brennan had been "leveraging" the clearance to make "wild outbursts" and claims against the Trump administration.
"The president has a constitutional responsibility to protect classified information and who has access to it, and that's what he's doing is fulfilling that responsibility in this action," Sanders said Wednesday.

Watched the press briefing today and they are up in arms about this.
Makes sense to me. Brennan is a political democrat hack. I am watching Shep Smith as I type this and he has his panties all twisted. Sure, it is punitive. So what. Brennan deserves no respect from Trump. I don't think he will be calling on Brennan for any advice.

CIA admits to spying on Senate staffers
The director of the Central Intelligence Agency, John Brennan, issued an extraordinary apology to leaders of the US Senate intelligence committee on Thursday, conceding that the agency employees spied on committee staff and reversing months of furious and public denials.
Brennan acknowledged that an internal investigation had found agency security personnel transgressed a firewall set up on a CIA network, which allowed Senate committee investigators to review agency documents for their landmark inquiry into CIA torture.
Among other things, it was revealed that agency officials conducted keyword searches and email searches on committee staff while they used the network.
The admission brings Brennan's already rocky tenure at the head of the CIA under renewed question. One senator on the panel said he had lost confidence in the director, although the

Is this revenge? To a point yeah but without security clearance leakers are not going to leak intel for fear of prosecution and Brennan like most of the ex Obama cronies want to take Trump out.

We keep hearing how this was revenge. If so how has Brennan been hurt? He wasn't using the clearance, he's still getting paid to be on TV because he was the head of the CIA. He is still able to say whatever he wants on TV annd in print.

Trump should not have had to do it. Someone needs to be fired for not doing it at the department.

Hey folks. First real post here (other than my intro). I have a clearance. I do get it. Former government employees can retain their clearances - that makes them employable to government contractors. Big deal. What gets you to lose your clearance is going off the deep end and starting to undermine the government. Or lying to congress - that's a crime. Criminals don't get clearances. Duh! Brennan lost his clearance because he's gone off the deep end and is undermining the US Government. Plus he committed perjury to Congress - and no you don't have to be convicted first to lose your clearance. Different issue entirely. About time Trump starting taking some of these clearances away - especially if they don't really need it anymore. The only reason Brennnan needed it was to "consult" with the current CIA director. You have to disclose any terminations on your clearance. Not sure if you would lose it for having been fired. I suppose it would depend In the reason.

Whiney John Brennan Revoked the Security Clearances of Benghazi Heroes
Dozens of former CIA officials signed a letter in defense of John Brennan. It seems all of the elite at the top of the pecking order keep their security clearance so they can get lucrative jobs as private contractors. It's a perk they awarded themselves. The grunts don't keep it. How is this good for national security?
That being said, some are standing up for the President.
Kris "Tanto" Paronto, a former Army Ranger and private security contractor who was part of the CIA team that fought back during the 2012 Benghazi terror attack, leveled Brennan for putting politics before men in the field.
"He is lucky the security clearance is all he is getting away with," Paronto told Fox News in an interview on Friday in response to Brennan's incessant whining about his being taken away.
Responding a day earlier to Brennan's tweet that his "principles are worth far more than clearances," Paronto also tweeted:
"My principles are greater than clearances too John, especially when you and the @CIA kool-aid drinkers punishes us for not going along with the Benghazi cover-up story in order to protect you, @HillaryClinton's & @BarackObama's failures. You put your politics before us."
