QuoteThe House on Thursday just barely advance legislation that would provide President Obama with "fast track" trade negotiating powers, overcoming the opposition of almost every Democrat and a significant block of conservative Republicans.
The rule for considering these bills passed by a vote of 217-212, a vote that was only made possible thanks to the late decision of eight Democrats to vote for it, a rare show of support from Democrats who normally vote against Republicans at this stage of the legislative process.
Passage of the rule allows the House to proceed to debate and take a final vote Friday on the trade promotion authority bill as well as the trade adjustment assistance act. The TPA extends powers awarded to the president to negotiate trade bills in an expedited fashion and with little opportunity for Congress to alter them.

Hopefully it will die!
Wow, Talk about spin....

Wow, Talk about spin....
Our conservative talk radio hosts are all over this one to our reps-Gowdy and Scott. Gowdy's office hung up on talk radio's Tara yesterday when she was asking how Gowdy would vote on the bill. Looks like our duly electeds are going against us on this one. If we can't get this one stopped, I don't see any further need for Congress. Just a bunch of suits going along with the destruction of our country.

It is the "opportunity of Congress to altar them" phrase that many politicians are saying is pivotal to their acceptance of the Bill. They say that Congress has the last say in any matter.
However, most Americans no longer trust Obama to allow Congress to control anything he does.
This entire matter is very confusing to most Americans....... especially when you have Walker and Cruz supporting it.

Also Gowdy and Scott, two I wouldn't think to have voted for it. It could never be smart to give a president this much power, especially this president. We are so screwed if this passes.

The only, and I mean only thing Gowdy has done, is act the good game of prosecutor on TV for our consumption.
The doesn't have a solid "C" rating for nothing. I expect to see his ass primaried.

This "Housekeeping" operation is somewhat like a revolving door. The grassroots elect seemingly conservative folks to promptly find out that it was a facade! ..... example, Marco Rubio!
So, it is back to the drawing board with new blood that will have integrity! That seems to be a very illusive commodity!

I started watching him closely after he said off the cuff, "I'm not TEA, but I support a lot of what they do".
WTF? The only way you couldn't support TEA as a Representative, is to either be an ignorant blithering idiot, or a RINO, and he's proven to be quite the prosecutor, so he's no idiot, but he definitely gives Hollyweird actors a run for their money.
Yes, Gowdy is full blown lying RINO.
We really need to start a thread on him, and make it an official exposing of the poser.

The irony is that it was grassroots TEA that got Rubio elected!
Now he is distancing himself from them? Give me a break!!!!
Since when did TEA become a dirty word? Since the msm tarred and feathered us ad nauseum.

He did more than distance himself from TEA, he outright lied to get elected.
Yeah, let the LSM denigrate TEA, but we always get the last laugh after the election ends.
This is the most confusing bill I can remember. Nobody has seen the real bill, of course, but Trumpka and the unions oppose it, many Dems oppose it, Republicans like it, Hussein likes it, Ryan says it takes away power from Hussein, yet Hussein is running to the Hill to whip up votes to pass a bill that takes power from him?
WTF is going on?

I certainly identify with your frustration, taxed. I don't think anyone really knows what is happening.
As I noted earlier..... it is Animal House on steroids!
Cruz clears up a lot of confusion:

The first part of the Senate bill has been voted down in the House.
WASHINGTON (CNN) -
In a stunning defeat for the White House, the House of Representatives on Friday voted down a measure creating an assistance program for workers displaced by free trade agreements.
This measure's passage was required before lawmakers could proceed to voting on trade promotion authority, and the move throws Obama's proposed trade deal with Asia into serious jeopardy.

We will vote out politicians who try and ram stuff by us. No Democrat would admit this, or RINO, but the election last year and the Tea Party were a big reason for this.
Bills need to be in the open. This hidden, secretive, shady crap -- especially when Hussein is running to the Hill like Willis Reed -- is a no go.

Now watch the spoiled brat veto his own Bill.
Pelosi was the surprise here. Expect the Obamatards to grease her exit at the end of her term.
Quote"I will be voting to slow down fast-track," House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said on the floor moments before the vote, after keeping her intentions private for months. "Today we have an opportunity to slow down. Whatever the deal is with other countries, we want a better deal for American workers."
The dramatic defeat could sink the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), a sweeping free trade and regulatory pact that Obama has called central to his economic agenda at home and his foreign policy strategy in Asia. Obama's loss came after a months-long lobbying blitz in which the president invested significant personal credibility and political capital.

So does Congress and the Court. If he does go Varsity on childishness, this may be the opening to permanently limit the scope of executive orders, or at least freeze Hussein in place until they kick him out of Air Force One and he goes back to shaking down Chicago.
What's scarier is, if he does go Spoiled Brat and writes epic stupidity, then the Roberts court could get into it and EXPAND those powers. After the Obamacare betrayal I put nothing past either one of those trash.

I love the thought of it!!!
This is about as good as it has been since 2008! Obama definitely has a temper and is not afraid to show it to certain people!
The very thought of him seeing his own demise is exhilarating. His "fall" has been great! So, where does he turn for a much needed ego boost?

He is hitting on zero here in SC. First the Benghazi mess which is going nowhere, then the immigration event that he claims to have been in the dark about but was outed per news reported on it over a year ago about resettlement, and now this voting on the trade bill. He has stated recently that he was going to stay in office until he got to the bottom of Benghazi but then he was going to be out of politics. I'm no longer interested in what he has to say about anything.
As far as this trade bill is concerned and the skewed voting on it to pass, I can believe that our politicians know that it is a bad deal and what's worse they are in a protected position, have money and everything it takes to get along.. For this reason, I think they will consider their own personal interests when they vote. They have already proven to me that they just want the best deal for themselves and to hell with us.

I used to see many commenters on Discuss touting Gowdy as their guy, but I haven't seen mention of his name in the last month.
I'm guessing people started asking questions, and we we're the first with the answers.
