The Democrats’ lost generation

Quiller posted this in a thread where it was quickly buried, I believe it's worth noting.

As Democrats take stock of their grievous losses in the 2014 elections, party leaders are confronting a challenge perhaps even more daunting than their defeats in the House and Senate: the virtual wipeout of the Democratic talent pool across the country.

After the Republican waves of 2010 and 2014, the party is depleted not just in its major-league talent, but also in its triple-A recruitment prospects. It amounts to a setback, Democrats say, that will almost certainly require more than one election cycle to repair.

At the start of the 2014 campaign, Democrats envisioned an election that would produce new national stars for the party in at least a few tough states – Georgia Sen. Michelle Nunn or Kentucky Sen. Alison Lundergan Grimes, for instance, or maybe even Texas Gov. Wendy Davis. Even if the party fell short in those "reach" states, Democrats hoped to produce new heavyweight blue-state Democrats – Maryland Gov. Anthony Brown, the country's only black state executive; or Maine Gov. Mike Michaud, who would have been the first openly gay candidate elected governor.

Any of them could have landed on a vice presidential short list in 2016.

Instead, all of them lost.

I'd like to give credit to someone who made this all possible.  Someone conservatives owe thanks to, and sends fear to Democrats all over the country:

And with so few governorships there is no one on the horizon. So it's Biden, Warren and Clinton.

It may not necessarily be an unending parade of Biden, Warren, and Clinton. I'm sure someone will come along. In this media era, political superstars aren't grown over the course of decades of service, they are manufactured upon request.

How long did it take Obama and Cruz to go from relatively obscure senators to a national symbol of their party?

What do think about the chances of Julian Castro?  Speakers at the Democratic Conventions seem first in line to fast-tracked to candidate status.  He's HUD Secretary now.  Joaquin, his twin-brother, is running for re-election as Mayor of San Antonio.

And speaking of joe's... and I hate contemplating it; Massachusetts rep. Joe Kennedy.

Your State has one of the most under-the-radar villains of all...  Lisa Marie Alley, spokeswoman for the high-speed/bullet-train Eminent Domain fiasco.  If 'they' pull that project off, that is.

Why not? People have been falling for it forever. It's the oldest trick in the book. Play up your inexperience as being a "Washington outsider", say you're going to shake things up and change the system back to work FOR the people. You're gonna cut the red tape crap and implement common sense solutions because your not a politician, you're a normal person just like the voters. You're gonna give the middle class jobs and you're not gonna tax them.

It worked for Bush, it worked for Obama, it worked for the TEA party, and it'll always work. You're a lot older than me Solar, I'm sure you've seen it a million times. Doesn't matter if it's Bush wearing a cowboy costume, Hillary saying she was broke, or Obama drinking Bud Light. It's the same trick, the only difference is if there is a D or R after the name.

Look how popular Rafeal Cruz is, just a few years ago he was fairly unknown to the general public. Who knew who Sarah Palin was before she ran as VP?

If Hillary declines to run or her odds go down, the dems can make anyone into a superstar.

Two years is a long time in the political world. With a good campaign and media backing, most anyone could be elected president. Competent or not.

Nope.  It takes years to lay ground work.  Bush had his dad, was in politics, and a Governor.  That wasn't a quick turnaround.  Hillary was never there.  She latched onto Bill, who was also groomed for a long time.  Hussein was groomed, and the Davis/Axelrod/Jarrett/Ayers group took years to lay the Marxist groundwork in politics, unions, and the media, and executed the elections.  Any hip, young 35-er they have now that they've been grooming will be pushing 60 before he/she even has a shot.  Palin was an anomoly, just running her state with an 80% approval rating before a long time groomed and entrenched McCain brought her in the spotlight.

We have a new crop of untamed conservatives in position now.  The Marxists have a few decades before they are in position to make a move again.
